Breakfast ideas for a commuter
Hello All,
It's been a long time since I've visited the forum here. Hope everyone is doing well today. I am looking for some good breakfast on the go ideas. I have a 1 1/2 hour commute to work every day. I love crunchy and chewy in the morning. I'm trying to get away from the Fiber One bars that I had been using as an easy, portable tummy filler. Throw your suggestions my way. Thank you!

Are you driving or taking public transportation?
I used to drive and hour and would drink my NF latte on the way to work and then bring my breakfast to eat at my desk.
If you have to eat while driving, I would suggest a better quality Protein Bar than Fiber One. I like Pure Protein Peanut butter chocolate flavor. They are very dense, 200 calories and 20+ g of protein! I also LOVE Supreme Protein bars but they are harder to find and too good, (if you know what I mean). But still, the stats are better than Fiber One. Supreme Protein Peanut Butter and Chocolate is: 200 cal. 15 g protein.
I never ate a good breakfast before surgery and now that I do I fully believe it has made a HUGE difference in my weight loss. I'm not big on liquid calories but in a pinch a protein shake would be o.k. but I still think solid proteins are best for a bandster.
One thing I have recently discovered is Canadian Bacon. I buy the Rose brand and it comes sliced in circles. 3 slices +70 calories and I think, 14 g protein. That would be fairly portable. You could eat it with a cheese stick.
It's a challenge if you're driving, so consider a snack on the road and a good healthy breakfast when you get to work!
Best~

Kind along the same lines as Lisa's Canadian bacon suggestion...
I like what I call a Deli Roll-Up. Put the roll-up in a zip-loc snack bag so you can eat the roll-up while holding it inside the plastic bag and not get your fingers sticky. (That's not a good explanation of how to do it, but I'm tired right now and I'm sure you can figure it out!)
I start with a slice of deli cheese (you could look for reduced fat varieties). I spread it with a smear of reduced fat cream cheese (you can flavor it with chopped chives or scallions), then press 2 very thin slices of smoked turkey (though ham is good too) on top. Then I roll it up. The cream cheese helps the roll stay stuck together.
To add some crunch to it, you could sprinkle some chopped almonds (or whatever nuts you like) on top of the cream cheese before you add the meat.

P.S. It's may be too messy and slippery to eat in the car, but a pickle spear is tasty and crunchy inside the roll-up.
