My Band reacts to stress & I have yet to find the correct CC's for my band.
I had lap band surgery in Sept 2007. I did really well. Went from 270 to 176. In 2009 I began having issues. Life, relationship, job changes I began to experience a lot of stress. The stress would make me feel like my band was choking my stomach. I would eventually become so ill I would not be able to swallow my own saliva unless fluid was removed. Food choices have been hard as well. I cant eat what I am supposed to eat so I eat what I can and that is usually stuff that is not good for me. I have been adjusted 3 times in one week. Due to all the adjustments I have gained back all but 25lbs. I am depressed, embarrased and overwhelmed. I have been so sick at times I thought I would die. There is no slip and so far I just keep going back and forth with adjustments. I am at my wits end. There are times I will do fine with my adjustment and then 2 to 3 weeks in it gets super tight and I get sick. Anyone have any advice??? I feel like a failure.
Don't feel like a failure! It's the band, NOT you!!! It sounds like you are doing what you need to do to work with it by getting the adjustments when it feels off. I realize the band went well for you initially, but many ppl have posted on here that they did very well with a first band and then had a slip and had to have it repositioned or replaced...............then NO luck at all after that. :-( They were doing the same things they were before that worked for them...............but then it suddenly no longer worked!
The band can be extremely unpredictable!!!
My doctor mentioned I could have scar tissue built up but has not done anything to determine if this is true. He has also mentioned possibly taking it out if I continue to have the same problems mind you I have had for 1 1/2 yrs now stating I may be band intolent and suggested gastric bypass. At this point I do feel like a failure and my attitiude and the depression is not helping me at all with trying to take control back of my weight. You are dead right about the band being unpredictable,. While I dont want to give up on the band I am wondering if I should have gotten the gastric bypass in the first place., I chose the band because word was most gastric bypass patients regain all their weight in 5 yrs well that can be true for lap band patients as well. Of course I had no clue of that prior to choosing lap band,. GRRRRRR SUPER DEPRESSED SUPER FRUSTRATED,.....
Veenie you know me well. This weight gain has put me in a very dark place. I am so disappointed with myself but I am trying to get it back together,. I have appt with the nut & mental health provider. Hoping to get some help with all these emotions I am feeling as well as learn more about food value and choices. The only problem is talk all you want when your band wont allow certain foods your band is in control not you. So ok Dr you say eat chicken but all types of chicken get stuck. Oh no Bread but I can eat bread. Oh eat steak today steak gets stuck tomorrow,. I am just frustrated,.
Damn - I can feel your frustration thru your posts. The band does get very tight on me with stress and monthly cycle. I know when its coming and plan protein shakes for those days. When stress gets too much I exercise more, get a massage, read a book, pray, get my nails done etc. I will say however that Im not easily stressed. I believe that things happen for a reason and if I look close enough everything that caused stressed has opened new doors or something positive came from it. I'm not implying that in your case - I can only hope its so. There is a quote from Helen Keller that I love.
When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us. Helen Keller

Great advice. Not to go too much into detail but I have had a lot of life changing situations from one of my kids being diagnosed with a chronic illness, pregnancy of a child, child left for the military, child depression associated with death of father, child married, birth of my 1st grandchild and expecting 2nd in sept. Had my heart broke due to his unfaithfulness. Ok enough said but all that in 1 1/2 yrs. I had horrible anxiety. Now more depression.
I really like your plan for days it feels tight. I also have faith there is light at the end of this long dark tunnel.
Great quote by Helen Keller and so true.
I am feeling better with each post and so appreciate the sisterhood.
You look fab. Keep up the great work. You are an inspiration.

Hello,
I know how you are feeling. I had the lap-band in "2005" and I lost 20 pounds BUT, before surgery I lost 65. I was taking Meridia to help my appitite. (which helped alot) but, then I was at a stand still. I am starting to go up slowly now. I have not had an adjustment in 2 years because I was fine back then. Now I feel like the 3 or 4 days I go to the gym is not even helping. The main thing is I feel embarrased to go back to the hospital because I have been going up slowly. I feel like I let myself down and the people that helped me. But, I am going to call for a fill because I am feeling hungry quicker I just want to make sure my 4cc band stll has 2cc in it. Try to keep your head up. I will still go to the gym tomorrow :) :)
