No driving for 2 weeks?

My instructions were for a week.  If you think about it, if you have to slam your brakes on, you could pop a few stitches.  I wasn't allowed to lift more than a gallon of milk the first week for the same reason.  It's just pre-cautionary.

I cannot remember... I do know that part of the difference is the anesthesia and that when you are the driver you are using different muscles to control the car, pedals and all...

I drove after 6 days I think...  I was told a week..

I would just check with your doctor to find out the WHY behind his rules...

I was banded 6 weeks ago (this Thursday). My Dr said not for at least 48 hours so that the meds I did have in my system would wear off. He also said if I was still taking pain meds at home (I wasn't) that I couldn't drive. He said typically it's a week for most people. I gave it the 48 hours since I wasn’t taking any other meds.

Everyone is different as are our Dr's.

Good Luck

I was allowed to drive once I was 24 hours out of anesthesia/pain meds.

I had surgery on a Friday morning at 7 am --- and went home the same day.
I drove myself the next afternoon (I did not take any pain meds --just Extra Strength Tylenol)

As far as the difference between driving and being a passenger, we do use some of our core muscles when we drive/move/make driving decisions.

I was told not to drive while still taking my pain meds, which I think I took for almost a week (the memory is a little blurry, lol).  I know that by the time the first week was over, I was pretty much fine.  I could have gone back to work sooner, but I had to wait until after the surgeon cleared me and that appointment was for two weeks out.
