alcohol and the band
There's no difference for me. It takes me just as much now as it did before surgery to get tipsy. The only thing that's changed is what I drink. I use to drink beer, wine and mixed drinks. Now I don't drink beer at all and try to stay away from too much wine because of the calories and mainly drink vodka with a sugar free mixer. I was never one to eat before, while or after I drank so thankfully I don't have that to deal with.
I was like that at first - perhaps for the first year or two. Now i can drink just as I could before surgery.

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
My mind works different now with alcohol. My main concern is that it's not worth the calories. If only I could get that mindset with food. LOL Never had the habit of drinking and eating at the same time. However I can still drink as much as before surgery. I just don't do it.

I agree with Kate.
At first the first glass or two had me feeling tipsy, but after being over 2 years post op, I can drink an entire bottle with no issues.
I love my wine... and I was drinking a glass nightly before dinner. I've cut that down to 2 glass per week. It was getting in the way of my progress. LOL
