alcohol and the band
I have heard many people speaking about being a light weight in terms of alcohol.
I have had some wine and nothing.
I usually don't drink because then i have to wait to eat ( i take the time before and after liquids seriously). Tonight my husband took me out for dinner at a nice place and I decided to have wine.
LOL after 1/2 a glass (slowly) it occured to me I was very tipsy!. I waited a while and ate. My husband asked why I wasn't drinkng and i explained I am now a cheap date and i was slighly drunk. I tried to drink the wine after dinner but I couldn't cause I can't drink after I eat.
My DH got the rest of my wine.
Hooray for me in some form of life I am a LIGHT weight!!!

Same with me Wendy! And like the other poster said - going out with the girls after work? One drink lasts me the entire time. They don't even let me contribute to the appetizers anymore - said I don't eat enough to make a difference. And they always order one band-worthy appetizer for me!
Talk about a money saver!

Oh MAN am I ever a lightweight now when it comes to drinking too!! ONE small cranberry vodka and I am toast....and I'm not bloated and feeling yucky the morning after like I used to after a "normal" amount of drinks. Oh, and let's not forget the late-night grub I would eat before I went home (taco shop, Denny's or something of the like). LOL It's so awesome now.
Sounds like you had kind of a wine NSV?

Wendy, Last weekend was the first time since surgery that I was allowed to have a glass of wine. I expected to be looped. We invited friends for dinner. I prepared a meal COMPLETELY in advance because I expected to be really loopy by the time dinner came around and I wanted it to be really nice. ... nothing! I had a glass, some of a second and nothing! It was nice, though, to have everything prepared in advance and have time with my guests. I really didn't think it was worth the extra calories and hit on my sugars! So, now my meals out are really, really, cheap and my husband thinks it's great! lol
I don't get it. As banders we have not had any anatomical changes that would cause us to metabolize alcohol faster. One poster said it could be the time between drinks, I agree, if you have gone a long time without a drink you will feel it faster.
I have heard RNY patients say they get drunk faster and sober faster. Their malabsorbtion could be causing this but we don't have that.

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense. - Buddha
