My empty band

My husband was also very much against the surgery. Once I was one year post op and showed him my before/ after pictures he accused me of doctoring my fat picture to look fatter and said I never looked like that. After he saw a few more he started to realize I had looked like that and couldnt believe the change. Not just physically but in my whole demeanor. Once he realized that the surgery was need for me to feel better all around and that it in no way reflected on him, he was so much more supportive. He didnt want to be the guy that looked shallow and needed a thin wife. He has said time and time again he loved me no differently heavy than he does now but is so happy that I feel better now. He is happy that my self esteem is up and that my depression has lifted. It may take awhile for your husband to see that this surgery was about you and not him, but then he will probably be more supportive. Good luck!

I'll tell you my first 2 days post op were awful. I was in so much pain and couldn't hardly get through the laps in the hopital my surgeon required to go home. I felt strange also that everyone had reported that lapband was so simple and almost painted it to be pain free. However by day 3 and 4 I felt great and back to myself and returned to work on day 4.

If I could offer just the teeniest advice, I would say please be patient. The first three months can be the most trying. You are healing right now so you will not have much of an opportunity to utilize your lapband for a while. Meaning it works based on restriction which you will not really have for awhile. Where the other procedures are working pretty much when you wake up from surgery, this one forces you to rely on your own will power early on. Take time to heal, follow the rules you were given, and do not put a lot of pressure on yourself early on to have results. Once you are healed you can start getting fills and learning your new way of life and eating. Best of luck!!!

Swoosh, I must have missed your post that you had to get totally unfilled.  What happened that caused that?

My  band slipped a bit and Dr drained it to see if that will help it correct itself.  So I have been battling the fat girl in me for a month now...wasn't so hard at first, but as time wears on it is getting harder and she does win at times (more often than she should) looking forward to my fill not this coming Monday but next.

You look great.  I can see where that would weigh on you though...I'm slightly less filled than I want to be due to a severe tight episode and it's amazing how that fat girl can come out without hardly any help at all!

You sound so much like me right now. I have been unfilled for almost 7 weeks and although I lost 4lbs in the first month on Weigh****chers, after that no matter what I did I couldn't lose anymore. Then I sorta threw in the towel for a week and gained back the lbs. (4 days of eating normal, not crazy, and it all came back, such a reminder of my preop days) Ugh! Its killing me that no matter how much exercise and dieting I do it only just barely helps me maintain. However like you it has so much more to do with not wanting to regain. I've tried explaining to my husband that as much as I would be ecstatic for a loss my fixation has much more to do with my insane fear of weight gain. This unfill has reminded me so many times though why I needed my lapband to begin with. I might be able to maintain for a couple of months, but I am coming to the end of my threshold and if I didnt have my band the weight would start inching back on. Do you know how much longer you have to stay unfilled? I can start getting fills again in a couple of weeks.
