The itching is driving nuts...

OK...I have to ask you guys about a problem I am having.  Well since losing so much weight my formally big blubbery stomach is turing into flabby, droppy skin.  Well the problem is between the skin folds.  The skin is starting to get irritated.  It's been happening for awhile now but it's getting worse.  Last night I nearly scratched myself till I bled.  When I realized what I was doing I stopped.  I am taking extra precations to make sure the folds are clean and dry...and I'm using cortizone for the itching.  Is there anything I could be doing???  I can bring this up to the doctor on my next appointment but that's at the end of April, but I don't want to go in special just for this.  I know this is a frequent problem for us.  When you had this problem what did you do or the doctor do to help the situation?

Lotrimin cream for yeast infections is what we do for patients at work with abdominal folds when they get red, irritated, itchy... etc.

Ewwww...yeast infections.  That's gross..I might have yest infection on my tummy...like the same kind women get in their vaginas?  This might be a stupid question so you can smack me if you want...hahaha.  I have some Monistat cream in the house can I use that on my stomach??

I was trying to find a way to keep the area dry by putting a paper towel between the folds (the area tends to get moist) do you know of a better way to keep that area dry?

Guess what this is actually good news if you're planning a tummy tuck!!! Get this irritation documented in ur medical file ASAP!!!  Why?  Because you now have a medical conditional that warrants insurance companies to pay for the tuck procedure!!!!!

I never thought about the tummy tuck issue.  Yes, get in to have it documented for insurance before you get it looking a lot better.

I am pear shaped and deal with the loose skin on my lower half.

Here's a link you could go to about treating yeast infections.  It really is a common problem with a lot of over weight patients and in your case loose abdominal skin.  The area gets moist and there's no air etc etc....

**I posted this on the main board too**

I had the exact same issue.  There's a few things you need to do.  First of all your "rash" and itching is probably fungal at this point so just a cortizone cream is not going to help.  Lotions like lamisil, lotrimin and tinactin will help.  Call your dr. and tell them about your issues the best thing you can do is start getting this documented!!  I did and got my panni covered by insurance (i paid the difference for the full TT).  I had a huge hanging fold (see my before pictures) after I lost my weight and I was diligent about keeping clean and using a cornstarch powder everyday and it still didn't stop the itching on hot days.  Kari

i use cornstarch baby powder on normal days. But when it's worse & itchy I use medicated powder my Dr. prescribes. It's Nystatin topical powder. Since I started using it I've had no major itching problems for the past few months.

I had the same problems years ago (wet and a ra****chy).  My Dr. recommended a powder - it is - Zeasorb-AF - I had gotten mine at a CVS but it is behind the counter.  You do not need a script for it.

After two days it cleared me up beautifully and I was a mess.  I was trying all the creams and such and it only made it a lot worst.  I still you it on occasion - especially in the summer months.

Hope this helps.

I wish I did have the problem! If we can document it happening and can't sort it out, our national health service will do a tummy tuck for us! Sure your insurance cos would be the same!
