Some questions about "goal"

I am 5'4", 36 years old. My offical dream goal is 155 (just a hair into the overweight category). Right now I am hovering trying to break into onderland. I went into this with the thought that 199 would be the most wonderful thing since just about EVER. I could live happily with being in the 190's. My next major goal is 175 simply for the reason the last time I was at this weight I felt slim, confident and on top of the world. I made a vow to myself if I could make it to 175 and my body settled in at that weight and it was pretty easy to maintain the loss I would call it good and live happily every after.

I like what Julie said about being able to maintain our goal weight. Sure we can all diet our way down to a really low number on the scale, but I know that I won't  stay there if it's a real battle every day. My final goal weight has to be something I can comfortably maintain by choosing healthy foods most of the time, excersising at least 30 min a day and having a treat now and then. It would be fantastic if that weight happened to be 155 for me, but I'm not going to be too disappointed if it's 175.

I got to 167 after 6 months of liquid-only Medifast about 13 years ago.

So, I first set my 'goal' to be 175 ---- and when I got there, I moved it down to 165 -- and when I got there, I moved it down to my Weigh****cher's goal (5' 6" -- the top weight within their ranges is 155).

I am almost 53 years old -- menopausal --- and thought that 155 would be good.

I am now losing about 1/2 to 1 pound per week --- and will probably go down to about 145 and then work hard to maintain between 145 and 150.

I have to weigh in at least once a month at WW and if I weigh more than 157, I have to pay for the meeting --------------- I am determined NOT to have that happen.

Do I have excess skin on my upper thighs and abdomen? -- You betcha.
Did I have excess skin removed from my upper arms --- yep -- along with a breast lift.

I don't work very hard right now at continuing to lose ==== was 152 at WW yesterday after 3 days of business travel and eating out every meal --- so I am going to let my body decide when it is done.

Also -- I have 5 sisters --- 3 of them are about my height and between 135 - 140 pounds -- the other 2 are obese and super-morbidly obese.  I think that I am built like the three thinner ones -- so I think that getting down to abotu 145 will be ok for me.

I've been at my personal goal (160 lbs) for about 8 months now but since I've been in training for a 5K in 2 weeks and a 10K in June, I've been dropping weight like a mad woman... I'm below my target at 150 but I dont mind because it gives me some wiggle room.  I think Im starting to scare everyone with how "skinny" I've been looking.  I just can't win... when I was heavy I got riddiculed and now that I'm "skinny" I still get riddiculed.... I just have to suck it up and know that I'm happy with where I am and I WORKED very hard at it.
I do have a lot of loose skin around my arms, breast, and thighs.  My stomach area is not that bad... the plastic surgeons that I work with tell me that they won't touch me until after I have all my babies... It would ruin thier lovely work!

I did get an untweak a few weeks ago when I started training at the advice of my surgeon.  My surgeon and his partners keep a close eye on me... heck I see them everyday since I work with them!

Take care
Jan

all the weight has been lost post-op..I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

highest weight: 333 pounds (I know I gained after my last "weigh in" in the doctors office so probably it's more like 340 pounds)
current weight: 151 pounds (7/12/11)
I've been at goal (165 pounds) for 6 months now and now on maintence.  I tend to go up and down depending on time of the month and such!

Hi Jan,

I would love to know what your doing for your training for the 5& 10K is.
I've been stuck at the same weight range 166-169 for several months.  I've been doing the 30 day Shred and walking when it's warm enough out.  Averaging about 300 minutes of exercise most weeks, but I need to increase/change what I've been doing and have tried some jogging with my walks.  I haven't had a fill for 6 months, so next week I will get one since my hunger has increased a lot.

Thanks,
Kristi

I am happy with how I feel and pretty much happy with how I look ( with clothes on ) but I'm not sure where I will end up and say "I'm at goal!".  It's taken me a year to lose the last 30 pounds, but I have gotten in a lot better physical shape.  I need to measure myself also.  I know that ever since I was a teen, I've either been losing weight or gaining weight.  I don't know anything different.  When I started this journey, I was confident I could lose the weight, just didn't know about maintaining.  Now I know that there will be little difference in today versus when I maintain.  For me, I know I have to weigh everyday and keep an eye on what my weight is doing.  I've learned long ago not to let little ups get me down.  I know what my body does if I eat higher sodium foods etc.

I'm 46 and had saggy skin even before I lost weight, ( THANKS MOM ) hahahaha
she has saggy, wrinkly skin and has been at a normal weight her entire life.

I am wearing a size 14 and would love to get down to a 12, and I was 168 today.  I'm pear shaped and would like to get rid of the flab on my hips and butt.

So after all this rambling, I don't have an answer!  sorry.......

Hi Kristi- basically when I first started I would power walk to 3-4 minutes then "sprint" for a minute or 2 (whatever I could handle) and go back to power walking.  I would do these intervals for total of 30 minutes.  Eventually, I just did the jogging part and just tried to jog for as long as I can without stopping.  I'm up to 3 miles doing that!  There was a time when I couldnt even walk a block (and I was a  bedside/floor/staff nurse!) now me... run!  HA!  Well, I like to challenge myself I guess.
Along with that,  I still ate healthy and bandster friendly foods...NOT slider foods but good foods like lean proteins and fresh fruits and veggies.

Good luck to you!

Hi,
I am in the same exact place-I am 5'5 , 51 years old and weigh 182 and wear a 12. The Dr told me that he would consider a 100% completed weight loss at 184.
I would like to get to 165, still considered obese, but a number I think I can maintain.
I seem to be stuck in the 180's and need to kick start and be serious to lose the last 20 lb.

My ultimate goal is 150 lbs (that is what my ticker is based upon), but anything under 200 is going to be a huge success for me.  My next goal is 200, then 175, then 150.  It will take time and perserverance, I am 61 yrs old and things just don't happen as fast as they did when I was younger!
