So, I'm in week 5 post-op, having some conflicting emotions about my 5lb weight gain (although you have all been wonderful explaining how this phase it's still about healing, not weight loss), and reading the struggles so many have posted lately.

I must confess, I have been very apprehensive about the exercise since the surgery.  I have been walking, but haven't really kicked it into high gear at all.  Today, for the first time, I went back to my gym and had a really great workout.  I didn't go crazy with intensity, but there was sweat going on.

I'm even thinking about taking a class or two.

I go to my surgeon in two weeks.  Hope to get a fill then (haven't had one yetdoes that sound right to you???).

Thanks to all those positive posts.  They really help me.

Hey if you're sweating you are working out good.  Best not to push yourself at first you will know when it's time to kick up the intensity.  I would say at first work on consistency.  So many people give up after the first couple of weeks.  If you decide on 4-5 times a week do your best to be there.  What I kept telling myself the first month and half "it takes 6 weeks to form a habit"...so I figured if I can get through the first 6 weeks it would be easier to keep going...here I am 7 months later going 6 days a week!!!

You are way ahead of me I didn't work out at all the first year.  Good luck!!!

Hi there Barbara,

at least you are making the effort to go to the gym and workout and that is great and pretty soon you will start to feel guilty about not exercising lol.  I do .

But what I have learned and this is just my personal experience do something that you enjoy doing for exercise.  If you dont then you will fight it every step of the way , you wont get a good work out and then you will stop working out .

I hate to workout in a gym just doing the treadmill or weigt lifting .  To me that is soooo boring yuck lol so I had to find something else to do.  I fell in love with Zumba .  I started out three days a week doing it at Curves and now Im doing two hr long classes a week and I'm thinking of picking up a Sat night class now .

So like I said find something you enjoy  and it makes it alot more easier on you to exercise, and you will enjoy it alot more it wont seem like a job .  I cant wait for my Zumba classes each week now :o)

Also on your fill.  If you can go three hrs plus of not being physically hungry then dont get a fill.  You only want to get them fills when you need them .  Kate which I adore on here said it right on Fills dont make you lose weight, it is you that has to lose the weight all it is a tool to guide you :o)

Very valuable piece of info there and she helped me last week by saying that :o) .

So just be careful on the fills get them when you need them :o) and also you need to have some will power and self control also for all this to work .

You are doing a great job keep up the great work !!!!!!!!

I ride the bike and read or watch tv.  It makes the time go by fast.  I know from the sweat that I am having a good work out.  Congradulations on going to they gym !

I think I was just afraid of doing damage, but I'm glad I found out that the coast is clear.  Thanks everyone for the feedback and the encouragement.
