At the end of my rope with this band

I just don't know what to do anymore. Two weeks ago I had a slight unfill due to a stuck episode and not being able to hold down water.
A few months before that I had a small unfill due to having heart burn so bad I was in bed praying for the pain to go away.

So after my last unfill I felt like I could eat a horse. I felt like no restriction. So much so that I went on a "diet" because I knew if I didn't I would gain weight.

Well tonight I got suck on a piece of corned beef. I was so sick I was seeing stars!

I just don't get this band and it's inconsistencies. I feel like this will never work for me.
I am so tired of throwing up, upper left abdomen pain intermittently, pain if I eat the wrong thing on that certain day, gerd, burping, etc.

I've been in denial for 2 years that this was the right surgery for me. Boy, have I seen the light.
I just can't live with this thing any longer.
Thanks for listening to me complaining! just miserable.....

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I had the band for 5 years before ending up in the hospital dehydrated and begging my surgeon to remove it. That was last June. March 14th I had the sleeve and so far have lost 25 lbs. Good luck to you!!

Ugh...I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles. I had a very similar experience with my band. Things were good for the first year, but then I'd have one day where I could eat every thing under the sun and then the next day I couldn't even drink water. I had a million unfills and fills (even with fluoroscopy multiple times) looking for the "sweet spot" that never came. I was vomiting frequently.

I have since had the band removed and have revised to the sleeve. I have not vomited once since getting the sleeve and I have consistent restriction morning to night and day to day. I feel great.

Is band removal/revision an option for you?

Good luck,
Lindsey

Yes, yes, yes!  I am hoping for a revision to the sleeve. I have an appt with the surgeon next week.  I'm just not sure if insurance will approve it due to my bmi.

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time -- I know if I had those problems consisently I would definetly be looking for something else. The band has to be something I can live with or it would go. My heart goes out to the folks that have trouble with it.

I had the band put on 4 1/2 years ago.............had prblems.......some restricion, no restriction.  Initially lost 25 lbs. but have put it back on.  Talking with my primary dr today to get scheduled to see the surgeon for a revision to have the gastric bypass done.  The kicker was with the lapband I paid cash out of my own pocket.  Tricare Pime will pick up the tab for the revision to the bypass.  Consider your options carefully and do what is right for you.  Good luck!!
