Since I took my pills this morning (which I obviously know now are too large!), I have this "stuck" feeling with mild heartburn. Any suggestions on how to get it down??

I've had this happen a few times. The only thing that ever worked for me is a spoon full of peanutbutter. It kinda sticks to them and pushes them down.

I agree with the hot liquids. Tablets are made to break down in gastric fluids that are the temperature of your body. The warmer the liquid, the quicker the tablet breaks down. Just not too hot, don't want to damage your esophagus.

Yes!  Hot liquids.
If you have any remaining refux of burning, try OTC Prilosec or Omeprozole.  It helps with irritation of the pouch.

You may also notice swelling, (tightnes), for three days post.  Stay to liquids and bland soft foods.  Avoid anything with caffeine, tomato based products, chocolate or spicy foods.

Warm liquids! Then soft food for a day or so.

Many of us have learned the hard way that pills, even when cut, seem to get stuck easily!

Had a terrible episode with a pill once.  I was on vacation and flying turning on my restriction in a way it had not been prior.  I thought I would finally have to go to the ER.  I coughed and coughed and coughed whenever I'd try and lay down for sleep. OMG, it was horrible.  Finally it started coming up in pieces.

Airhead said her pills go down with peanut butter and I found that this is true.  Peanut butter was a God send for me.  I learned on my own that this worked when I chewed my supplements with the peanut butter.  If you are truly stuck right now, I am not sure I would try this.  You might be swollen and irritated so much that this will just add to it.

I wish you the best.

Thanks everyone for the help! After two cups of coffee and a tsp of peanut butter, I was finally okay. Except for the part where my co-workers critized me for having the 1 tsp of peanut butter!

Tell those co-workers to mind their own damn business!!  (really makes me mad when people want to be food police.. unless you've invited them to do so)

Glad you're feeling better.  :)

I deal with it all the time. My response was "I think I am going to have another tsp of peanut butter just because you told me I should have" (which I didn't but that's my stubborn attitude of mine!). Of course then I got the "I didn't mean it like that" as they were all on their way to their office (which is supposed to be non-smoking) to smoke one of their way too many cigarettes for the day! It's usually just one of my co-workers, who is my dear friend, but she is constantly policing everything I do - what I eat, what exercises I do, if I don't lose enough in a given week. etc. I am down 62 lbs since my September surgery (including pre-op loss), so I'm happy with my progress!
