scared

Hi, I'm new to the site.  I haven't scheduled my lapband surgery yet.  I have one more appt with the nutritionist and a date will most likely be scheduled.  I'm feeling really scared because it seems my eating has been more out of control lately--as the surgery approaches.  I'm so fearful of failing.  This seems like the last resort.  I know it's not a quick fix and will take a lot of work but did anyone else have this experience?

Any change is stressful and it's a big step to have surgery, something not to be taken lightly.  Spend some time reading on this board and you will see that it's perfectly normal to go through different feelings.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

oh my gosh about a month before my surgery I ate anything and everything that month.  I ate pizza like there was no tomorrow, McDonald's , and so much more .

I was so scared I wouldn't be able to eat them foods after I had the surgery and I wanted to get my last fill in lol.

What is funny I still do eat them foods but I eat them in moderation now , and watch how often I eat them foods and it has worked out great for me :o)

I still eat them bad girl foods and enjoy every bite but I dont make a piggy of myself no more :o)

Its common I think everybody goes through that stage :o)

Hi, right before I knew I was going to have the surgery I went a little nuts before my liquid diet phase... I had Whataburger, Buffalo Wild Wings, Giant Chicken Fried Steak.... That might be normal for most people, but it should have been a wake up call for me...

If you suspect you have an eating disorder the band is not going to cure that. I learned the hard way and $10,000 later I have a problem with emotional eating. Within 3 weeks I was figuring out ways to 'eat around the band', etc.

With that being said over a year later, if i follow the band rules, eat low carb, exercise, AND work on my mental issues then I have really good success.

I'm an emotional eater too, though it took therapy for me to realize that.  I was originally going to get the band, but then decided the VSG will probably be a better option for me.  I check in across all the different forums though as we're all in the same boat in dealing with correcting bad eating habits

One thing you might try is finding something to keep you busy when you feel those bouts of face stuffing coming on... pick up a book or magazine, go out and take a walk, etc.  If you can distract yourself for a little while, sometimes the craving will pass.

i went on a binge fest.. at my initial weigh in for the nutritionalist i was 390.. then the day of surgery about a month later I shot up to 406.. I couldnt even walk up the flight of steps to my apartment without having to stop halfway up to catch my breath..  2 nights before the surgery i had about 6 big macs and couldnt even sleep..i thought "what the hell is wrong with me??? then got focused on what i was going to have done and how i would handle myself post op... tracking pretty well now

i think we all do the LAST SUPPER phase before surgery
