Lapband in combo w. Gastric Plication?? anyone else had this procedure?
I had this combo procedure with great success and I've been reading some blogs about the Lapband combined w. Gastric Plication. My surgeon is an extremely reputable experienced Dr. at Duke University Medical Center, one of the worlds leading Medical Centers and his patients have hadl success with this procedure. It allows band patients to lose at a rate more like the RNY patients, but without the usual side effects of RNY. I have had no complications whatsoever, not even a hint. No pain meds, no stomach pain, no esophogeal spasms, no extreme post surgery gas pain, etc. Don't you imagine that the first Bariatric surgery patient was thought to be insane by the general population? I know I was even as little as 5 years ago. But modern technology and medical advancements are allowing bright medical providers to figure out what works. I thank God evey day for my combo surgery and the man who was insightful enough to give it to me. The only thing I dislike about Duke is their basketball team. GO HEELS!!!!
As Maria said, airhead had this. She posts quite regularly on here. Check out a thread yesterday called something like "Any really big people..". She posted several replies on there.

Hello, I am airhead lol. I got the band over plication in January. My Dr. compares the results to that of the sleeve. After much research I also chose a reputable surgeon. He is from the Cleveland Clinic, a center of medical excellence. I have no regrets. I am doing great. No complications for me either. How long ago did you have your surgery?
Hello Airhead! I'm glad to meet a fellow bandoverplication buddy. I had my surgery Feb 24, almost 4 weeks ago. I"m on soft/mushies right now, and getting my first fill next Monday, flouroscopy. I'm needing it, I don't really feel like I have a lot of restriction but I know that will change once my fill is done. How much have you lost?

I am thrilled to meet another with the same surgery as well. My surgery was 1/10/11. I was not feeling restriction either. I was somewhat disappointed and worried that this proceedure was working. However I did over do it a couple of times and my stomach let me know it. My first fill was done under flouro at one month out. It gave me some restriction. My second fill was last week. I feel much more restriction now and things are going great at this point. When you progress to regular foods it's best to eat slow and chew well. Eating too fast will kick you in the but within a few minutes and your stomach will let you know it. That's a lesson I learned the hard way. Best of luck. Let me know how the fill goes.
