Not feeling good - Advise needed
Hi Everyone - It has been a long long time since I have been on this wonderful site.
The Short on My Lap Band History:
Surgery date - 9/24/2009
Surgeon - Dr. Woods ( I highly reccomend him to anyone in SE Michigan)
My starting weight - 248
Current Weight - 167
I love my band, it has been a great tool on my weight loss journey.
The problem - Last fall I started getting heartburn daily so I went and had a very small unfill. It worked great, heart burn went away and stayed away. Until about a month ago heart burn came back along w/ indigestion on a regular basis. No real stuck episodes but over the last 3 weeks I have (sorry so graphic) thrown up multiple times. Lots of burping and discomfort. I have also been having more issues with being constipated and having headaches. I am really not sure if all of this is connected or if it is all seperate issues. Also not sure if it is connected to the band or maybe my gall bladder. I know that I really need to see my PCP & my Surgeon, just thought I would see what all of you thought - Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

Are you going on fluids after you throw up? It causes swelling after that happens and you need to be on fluids for at least 24 hours to let the swelling go down or it just causes more swelling etc. Please get in as soon as possible to see your surgeon. Sounds like an UGI would be a good thing to have done to check your band placement.
As far as constipation and headaches, are you getting in enough fluids?
Hope things get better,
Kristi

I had all the symptoms you've listed. It sounds as if your stomach is rebelling against the band. You may want to consider a complete unfill for at least a little while to give your soft tissue of your gut "time off."
I had severe constipation when my band wasn't in the correct place. And, strangely, the damage to my diaphragm caused headaches and days when I'd sneeze for hours at a time, sometimes even passing out. So, your band could possibly be irritating your diaphragm, causing the burping and the headaches. The Vagus Nerve system runs from your head/neck down to the lower trunk and can really cause a lot of weird symptoms.
I hope you feel better soon. I'd definitely get checked again, both for the band and the gall bladder. Wishing you the best of luck.

Doesn't really sound like your gallbladder. I would call your surgeons office and run it all by them and do liquids til you hear from them. I had a bout with reflux/indigestion recently and did a 14 day round of omeprazole it is an acid reducer that is OTC I forget the name it regularly goes by and gave up a few food items (esp caffiene) and all was well again soon. Run it by your Dr and see what he says .At least you will have peace of mind.:)
