Hey everyone! Considering a purchase of one of the two of these and am curious if someone can tell me the differences between the two and which one you would recommend.

Looking for some more accountability. Thanks!

I have the Fit Bit and I really like it. Its very accurate in reading your steps plus gives you the option to track all your meals on their website for free so that you can see if there is a deficit between your calories and movements. You only have to charge it maybe once a week (or less), and do not have to dock it to transfer your activity as it sincs from 15 feet away. It also comes with a soft wrist band to wear to bed in case you want to know your sleep patterns but honestly that is more of a novelty that you may never use again after the first couple of nights. Although I'll be the first to tell you that it isn't much more than a fancy pedometer it is definitely good for accountability. I find myself parking further away to add activity and when I see I have eaten more than I have burned it makes me want to get up and move to close the gap. I also have my daily goal set at 10,000 steps (though you can change that) so if I am at 9,500 steps I know 5 minutes of fast treadmill walking will get me to my goal which keeps me moving more as well. I like that everything is customizable like your daily and weekly goals, your stride, and because of its size I can wear it on the center part of my bra to not only get an accurate reading but also to feel secure its not going to fall off in the toilet or get lost while walking around.

I don't know if the Body Bugg does more to calculate how many calories you are burning but this works strictly as a pedometer. When you press the button you will see how many steps you took, how many miles that translates to, how many calories you have burned (which is calculated based on your weight) and you also have a flower icon that adds leaves based on how active you are when you have pushed it. Also on the website you'll get to see a pie chart of how your activity broke down for the day in terms of highly active, moderately, slightly, etc. Lastly you can also add addtional exercises to the website to add more calories burned, but if I do aerobics and dont want to double count it, I take off the fit bit during that activity (given that jumping jacks and such will increase my steps and I don't want to have had counted it as steps and as aerobics).

Best of luck what ever you decide!

I had a GoWearFit (made by the Body Bugg people) and gave it away.

I dont' think that either the Bugg or the Fitbit have a Heart Rate monitor -- and that was important to me.

I use my Polar HRM and an Omron pedometer when I work out.

The Fitbit is more than a fancy pedometer.  It is fantastic and I love it.  The price is reasonable.  The web sight is free and there is so much information on it.  It is a nice small size and you can attach it to your bra, waistband or put it in your pocket.  I wear it 24 hours around my waist.  I like that it tracks my sleep patterns.  The support is great  They get back to you right away.   If there are any problems they will send you  a new one asap.
