Need some advice

Okay here it goes and I'm so confused, lost and have been in tears the last week cause of all this and well with me getting ready to start my period next week it sure as hell isn't helping matters either lol.

I went to my doc last month on the 28Th of Feb I go again next Monday on the 28th by this time I always have at least 5 pounds off me even before getting ready to start my period and this month I have been bouncing back and forth from 309 to 307 two pounds *sigh*.

I'm retaining water so I know that is part of the reason due to my monthly getting ready to start.

Anyways just two pounds officially so far and I'm not sure what to do when I go and see the doc next week .

I printed out my weeks worth of menus and looking at them and expect for maybe a day here or there my calories do not go above 1100 per day 85% of the time they are in the 1000 range .  Carbs nothing above 55 expect like I said a day here or there .  Fats nothing above 55 .

The numbers are looking great I cant see where I'm overeating or eating to many carbs and so forth.

I have been talking to my friends that have a lap band and they mentioned me getting a fill and to be honest with you all I just dont think that is the problem.  I'm still going 3 hrs plus without getting hungry that is what the band is suppose to do right ?

So I dont see how a fill would really help me if I'm still going at least 3  hrs of not wanting to eat .

I'm scared to get a fill one because I dont think I need it or at least according to the rules I dont need one, and plus if I get one I sure as hell dont need to cut my calories down even further . And if I can go this long without wanting to eat I think  a fill would make me to tight and I dont want that either.

I'm starting to wonder if my calories are not to low for me .  Going to ask the doc about it when I see him.  I got my weeks of foods printed out , what I ate, carbs, calories everything .

Exercise I cant get accused of not exercising.  I do Zumba for a hr on Mondays, Curves circuit with Zumba on T, Thu and Sat and I do a hr long class of Zumba on Wed nights so exercise is not my problem at least I dont think so lol.

My question is did you all go through this like a Plataea ?

I wish right now I was hungry every two hrs or a cup of food wasn't holding me because that sure would solve my problem right now but I just honestly dont think a fill is the answer for me not when I go so long without wanting to eat *sigh*.

What can I do ?  Do I need to bump my exercise,  do I need to lower my calories even more ?  I know I talked to some on here to up my calories but oh my gosh that scares the daylights out of me especially going in to see the doc next week . I'm so scared I would gain weight .

Instead of eating my three meals a day and maybe a snack at night not all the time should I start eating snacks between meals to keep my metabolism going ? Like cottage cheese, peanuts, anything with protein ?

I'm so damn frustrated right now because I wasn't expecting to stall this early on after my surgery *sigh* .

I went through a plateau 2 months after my surgery where I lost a whopping ONE pound in a month. Eating hadn't changed; exercise had actually increased, so I was truly, truly pissed. At the end of the month I lost something like 5 or 7 pounds in a day.

That was my first one; I had several. As much as they sucked, they all ended eventually.

I am so sorry you are having this frustration.  My program instructs that I have minumun 4 small protein packed meals per day, and I do mean small, like don't exceed 1/2 cup.  maximum 6 small meals per day.  the key here is protein.  it keeps you from getting hungry.  two other things that have helped me, is planning and shopping in advance for my food.  I plan every night what i will eat the next day, for every single meal, then I keep a journal of my meals and waters.  it holds me accountable and if i get off program, i have to decide if it's worth it or not becuase I know I'm not gonna cheat my self and not write it down.  Good luck and you will see things begin to work for you again.  talk to your nutritionist and get their input.

Definetely talk to your doctor, but when I saw a trainer, he advised me to mix up my workouts every few weeks because our body gets used to it and doesn't necessarily work as hard.  It's not something that I understand completely, but he said that even mixing up the order of the workout will help as well as the days and intensity, etc.

On a side note, I think that we have all hit plateau's.  Just keep working at doing what you are supposed to and I think you will get through this.

You need to calm down and just keep doing what you're doing. Don't panic yet, and if you're not hungry don't get a fill. Save them for when you need them. Weight loss of 1-2 lbs a week AVERAGE. Some weeks/months your going to lose more, some less. Don't let one slow down start you into a panic, it will all even out in the end.

If you stop losing or gain for more than a couple weeks then you may have to fill or change your eating but it really sounds like you're doing fine. Good luck!!

((((((((((((Steelerfan))))))))))))))))  You've been doing so well - I hate to see you, of all people here, so sad and frustrated.    I think you might actually need your first fill.  You've lost 40 lbs!! Some of weight loss has likely lessened your restriction.

This is what my doc told me:

Three main factors are used to determine whether or not to add fluid to the Lap-Band:

1. weight loss, 2. level of hunger, 3. degree of restriction.

If the patient is not losing adequate weight (less than 1-2 lbs. per week), is ravenous, and seems to be able to eat more with meals, then it is time to do a fill.

It doesnt have to be a gigantic fill. From what you've said about your doctor, he sounds a lot like mine.  You can get a small fill and try it out for a week or so.  I'll  BET ya start losing again.  It can't hurt to try.

Again, you have been doing fantastic...having restriction without any fills was a great start for you but I figured you would need a fill sooner or later.    Cheer up!  Its all going to be okay. I truly believe that.

hugs to you Jolena thank you so much !!

I have been debating back and forh if I need one or not but I just dont know .  I will have to talk to my doc and see what he wants me to do next Monday *sigh*.

I guess the reason why Im so hesitant on getting a fill because I can go so long without wanting to eat after a cup of food.  Like the other day I had my cup of food at noon and I didnt even eat again till 7 pm that night cause I just wasnt hungry.

Im just going so long between meals without snacks and Im to scared that a fill would make me to tight esepcially since I go this long now :o(

Glad to help, girl!   I can SO relate to having that debate..should I or shouldnt I get a fill...Thats what I was feeling before my 3rd appointment.   The Doc made the decision for me!  He said I was in the green zone then so he wouldn't give me a fill.    On my fourth appointment, I was hungrier between meals ..could definitely eat more I wanted to...that's when he gave me my third fill and said it looked "just right" to him on the floroscopy.  He was so right... I skipping my appointment next week because I'm still in the green zone and I know if I were any tighter, I would get stuck too easily. I rescheduled the appointment to sometime in May!!

Like you, I can eat just about any type of food....just LESS of it.  I'm learning to like steak sauce with my steaks though...and picante sauce with my eggs.  Other than that, I'm eating the same way.

thanks everybody . I think I will change my exercise up some good advice.  Its suppose to be warm this week so maybe I will grab my sons Ipod and do some laps around the park .

I think between the support group meeting, that damn nurse, and everything else I think I have just let people play to many mind and head games with me this month on fills, when to get them, when not to get them and they have me believing I'm doing something lol.

I knew in my heart and mind that the lap band surgery was slow and believe me I'm not complaining well maybe a little lmao but I guess what is so hard is when you follow the rules, exercise your ass off and nothing moves on the scales its so frustrating

My poor husband this past week I owe him big time when he comes home tomorrow lol. I have been such a ***** lol. I call him yell at him, cry , if  between my weight loss stall and getting ready to start my period goodness I dont know if I was him or not if I would even come home lmao .

No wonder my son stayed at a friends house all weekend long jeesh lol.

Have you taken your measurements?? Just because the scale isn't moving doesn't mean changes aren't happening, especially since you're exercising. Those NSV's can make all the difference. Oh, and I would trust your gut (no pun intended) about the fill. If you don't think you need one, you probably don't. Good luck and let us know what the doc says!
Jennifer

Courage is not always a lion's roar. Sometimes, it is a small voice at the end of the day saying I will try again tomorrow.
