Untill (IF) you reach restriction/sweet spot..........it's just like trying to lose weight BEFORE you got the band! Sorry. :-(

I had my band in October and have only lost 1 pound.  Doc finally tested my metabolism and it is way low even with daily exercise.  I'm on supplements now to raise my metabolism so we will see.  Since you are only a month out I would think your body is still adjusting to the change.

are you eating 4-6 small protein packed meals per day and drinking minimum 64 oz. water?  if not, try planning ahead, and if you leave home for the day or work, pack your mini meals to take w. you.  this way, when hunger strikes, you'll already have a plan of attack and it's handy.  If you eat 6 small meals per day, small meaning no more than 1 cup, then you'll be eating approx. every 3 hours.  hunger other than this could mean thirst, so pump in the water.  Protein is key in staving off hunger pangs.  Keep a steady supply in your body and you should see a difference.  Ask your dietitian how many grams you should have per day.  Focus on eating your protein first at each meal.  good luck.

You are just at the end of the healing stage post-op...6 weeks being the standard.  Have you had a fill???  Once you have a fill, things will change, but there is no "sweet spot".  When you are at optimal fill, you will not be hungry between meals for at least 4 hours, provided your meals are comprised of mostly dense protein and low glycemic veggies and fruits.
Make sure you are getting your water in (64 oz per day) and at least 60 grams of protein per day.
As far as a plan to follow, your surgeon's office should have you on a dietary plan and scheduled checkups/fills to monitor your progress.

Hi! Welcome to the loser's bench :) Since you are just barely a month out from surgery, you are still healing and probably haven't had your first fill yet. You are going through what is called "bandster hell". You don't have restriction yet. Forget about seeking the "sweet spot". My doc guides his patients to a "green zone. The Green Zone is where you eat a small portion size of food (6 to 8 ounces)and you feel comfortable after eating it. You don’t feel like the adjustment is too tight. You don’t feel like you could eat more. You feel just right after you eat it.

continued from previous post (OH is being WEIRD)  I found that green zone after my third fill.    At this point, I can still eat almost any type of food but I have to eat slow and chew very well...and I avoid leftover chicken  because it gets too dry for me the 2nd time around.

Right now, while you are in bandster hell, you feel like you COULD eat more but just because you can doesnt mean you should.  For every meal, fill up on your protein first
and then the sides.   Typically, I make a protein shake for breakfast (1 cup ice, 6 oz vanilla yogurt, 1 cup of milk, and 1 scoop of protein powder) in the blender and drink that on my way to work.  Early on, if I got hungry between meals, I'd get a protein bar or atkins protein shake.  For my regular meals, I basically eat the same things I did before the surgery but just half the amount.  and MOST IMPORTANTLY, NO drinking with meals.  I drink right up to the first bite and wait 30 min after I eat before drinking again.

Someone else here might have some food suggestions.  I'm not much of a cook- luckily I married a man who does all the cooking.

Oh, One more thing...I HIGHLY recommend Jean M.'s book Bandwagon. She is a regular here who wrote an encyclopedia of sorts for us bandsters. If you PM her, you can even get an autographed copy.  It's a great book and has saved me several unnecessary trips or calls to my doctor's office.   But feel free to ask questions and don't be scared away by the more agressive types here.  Some people feel very passionate for and against the band. Its good to hear all sides so you know what COULD happen.

Hope this helps.
