Anyone tried P90X or Insanity workout?

I saw this info commercial last night about the Insanity workout, and I have seen the P90X one many times. I have always thought there is no way I could do that. I was just curious if anyone here as tried either one and how were they?

I am thinking about trying the Insanity workout, but I'm not so sure just yet .

I think Tiff (on this lap band board)  tried Insanity, and had an injury?

From what I've heard about both of these workouts, you need to be in super good shape to do them and they are expensive.  How about trying the "30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels"  It's cheap compared to the two you mentioned, and a very good workout.

If it's a piece of cake, then try the P90X or Insanity.  I've been doing the Shred and it is still tough for me and it has 3 levels.  I've lost inches and increased my strength and even met my before surgery goal to climb to the top of the climbing wall at the climbing gym last week.  I couldn't have done it before the Shred.

I live by the Beachbody programs! I have never done Insanity, but I do have the DVDs; maybe I'll do them one day, lol.

I have done P90X, I'm on week 8 now, and loving it. Unless you're looking to add some muscle tone, I'd stick to Insanity, though before doing either one of them I would do a less-high intensity program. I started off with P90, did P90M, and now P90X.

A lot of people say that these programs are for "super fit people" when really, they aren't. There's a girl on YouTube that lost a good 100lbs+ doing P90X (I believe her name is CoutureSlimdown), and she started off by only doing half of the video for each day. It's all about building up your strength and endurance and by the end of the 90 days, you'll see a difference physically and mentally.

I say go for it but maybe start a bit lighter. Check out P90M and TurboJam before jumping into X and Insanity.

I also wondered if both programs would be okay for band patients since we cannot eat as much?

Thank you. I haven't exercised regularly in awhile so since it is getting warmer, I wanted to start. I just need to tone up so I didn't know which was better. I think I may stick with Tae Bo for now. I have always enjoyed those.

My son just purchased P90X on Craig's List for $60.  He hasn't tried it, yet.  I am going to have to check it out and maybe do that as well as go to the gym!

Yes, I did the insanity workout. It's a really amazing workout. it's NOT for the faint at heart. I hurt myself during the initial testing part. They are just getting a baseline of stamina and strength. It was really tough on my knees. I plan to try again soon now that I'm walking without pain LOL!

I would not recommend this for someone who hasn't been getting regular exercise already.

I've actually done both of these workouts.  I completed P90X and am on my 3rd week of Insanity.  They are difficult, but not impossible.  Being in some sort of shape would help, but you really can make the videos work for you.  Another thing that nobody has mentioned is the nutrition portion.  These workouts really do require you to be able to eat.  So depending on where you are at with your surgery, you may need to reconsider these workouts.  I eat 5 meals a day at 300-500 calories each.  I end up at about 2300 calories a day.  And I'm far below my recommended total of 3000 calories a day.  If you are able to do the program, I can promis you that you will get amazing results though.  If you go for it, you will definitely not regret it when you are done :)

I just started the Insanity workouts, and I have the lap-band surgery for 2+ years, about the eating part, they have me on 1500 calorie intake, is it ok to eat 5 meals a day as they say we should? even though we are not "hungry" of course it would be smaller amount of food but 5 meals? love to hear back from you.
