Garden Time!! (Unexpected NSV)

I'm so excited.  We started getting our garden ready today, weeding and tilling and spreading fertilizer.  I so love the idea of walking out in the backyard each evening and seeing what looks good for dinner.  The freshest salads you can imagine, squash green beans, corn, I love it all.  And fresh herbs for anything you can dream of cooking.  There is nothing more delicious that summertime cooking when it all comes straight from your own garden.

But I was out there on my hands and knees weeding and digging and it dawned on me that last year at this time, I could hardly bend over and I was huffing and puffing and sweating and hating every second of being out there wondering when I could go back inside and get back to my book and thinking about that bag of Doritos in the pantry.

And I realized that this year I was just hanging out, digging away, not sweating a bit.  I was enjoying feeling the sun warm my back and I was just loving what I was doing.  Sure, I've still got a long way to go but I'm just moving around so much easier, I didn't try and come up with ways to convince my husband to make all the runs up and down the stairs, I picked up the rake and the shovel and I just did it myself.  (Only stopping to tie the drawstring on my way too baggy shorts every once in a while.

And you know what?  It felt DAMN GOOD.

 yes, yes it does!

I remember being so tired, sore at the end of a busy 12 hr shift at work I practically had to drag myself into the house.  After I'd lost 40-50 lbs I realized I was not only not tired or sore after a busy shift I could run up the stairs to my house.

Really awesome NSV!

Congrats!  I had to wear my winter coat and gloves on our walk this morning.  Not quite shorts weather here yet.  I love flower gardening, don't do much with veggies.  The tulips and crosus and daffodills are just poking through the ground in the past few days!  WooHOOO
