Prednisone anyone?

Is weight gain inevitable, or can I minimize it by watching salt intake, increase water intake, and be diligent about my calories and activity?  I'm getting mixed messages from other web sites.

I took it for 4 months and gained 40 pounds... but I didn't have the band at that point, so maybe you'll have a different outcome.  I know it's a good drug when it's necessary to take it, but, man, I hate having to take that! I feel for you!

I think you can NOT gain weight but it will take extreme determination on your part.

Best of luck to you.

I have to take it periodically for my lungs and I think it depends on how long you have to take it. I usually take it for a week or two and while yes I feel hungrier I can usually control it because I realize it is from the prednisone. However if you have to take it long term I think it is more difficult to control the weight gain because it just compounds over time. This has been my experience anyway.

I think that if you don't have to be on it long term it is entirely possible to at least maintain. It will take every bit of determine you can muster, so be prepared. At times I have had good results but other times not so hot, you just have to do the best you can. Good luck

Sounds like you have a good plan of action, so I would guess little to no weight gain.  Good luck!

I was on it for 8 months. My band did not like it.
I had to get unfilled and I did gain 40lbs. I am off it now for about 1month and trying to
get the right fill.
