Hi N.M,

I am so sorry to hear all you have been through.  I was just wondering who your first surgeon was?  I see you are from Wisconsin.  Where in Wisconsin?  I am from Sun Praire and had lap band surgery July 29th, 2009.

                                                  Thank you,

                                                    Lori

April my suggestion to you would be to go to the revision forum. See what the largest % of ppl are revising FROM. Find out their stories. Also pose a question about it on the RNY forum if you haven't already.

There is also an interesting report by the ASMBS concerning the band:

Good luck!

Hi Tbyrd --

It's true -- there are a lot of people with the band that lose smaller amounts, but there are also plenty of people that lose considerable amounts.

I started out at 263 in 2009 and am now hovering over the Onderland mark. I chose this surgery because I did not want to have the malabsopbtion component. For me, this journey is a slower, I  make healthy food and portion choices most of the time but still have some treats too. I am  fairly active and get at least 30 minutes of exercise 5-6 days a week.  My final dream goal is 150, but I've promised myself if/when I make it to 175 I will call this surgery a raging success. It might take me another year, maybe even longer to get to that point but that's part of the reason the band was the best choice for me -- I'm afraid if I lose the weight quickly that I will gain it back because I will go off a diet.

I wish you the best of luck on your journey.

 Sigh...me too...

1.  I have all these new bones popping up...cheek bones, collar bones, hips bones, sometimes sitting hurts because I don't have as much padding anymore.

2.  I've had to buy new un-sensible shoes

3.  I have a whole cabinet of unused blood pressure, asthma inhalers and gerd meds

4.  I've had to give up some days off because I've been picked for some specialized training and management seminars since I now have more confidence.

5.  My teen dd steals my clothes

6.  I no longer crave bread, subs, pasta and rice because it's just no fun at all anymore and I don't even miss it.

yeah, I've got band issues

1.  That I have been called a skinny *****
2.  That sometimes when I find a piece of clothing I like there isn't a size small enough for me.
3.  All the money I spent for new clothes.
4.  That I can occasionally eat cake and enjoy every bite
5.  That I was one of the thinnest at my high school reunion.
6.  That I got thinner than I planned to.
7.  That I have maintained my weight loss for 5 years.
8.  That sometimes size 6 is too loose.

Here is my list of problems, this darn band.....
1. I had to go skydiving, not too heavy to go anymore.
2. Looked really good at my H.S. reunion.
3. Have to go to more parties, get togethers and outings.
4. Stood on the edge of the Grand Canyon, for some reason my fear of heights has wained.
5. I am in a lot more pictures, not just behind the camera, taking them.
these are the top "Problems" I can think of right now, there are plenty more!!!LOL
Mari  Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels!

1. I spend too much money on smart new clothes

2. When I tried cross country ski-ing for the first time ever, I found that having no fat over your ****ys makes landing painful

3. After getting to the end of my losing phase (3 1/2 years ago!)  I was too thin. Yes, really! I, Kate, fatty for life, was too thin and had to deliberately put some weight on.

Kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
