Atkins or Low-Carb Curious?
New Group! -- http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/atkins/
We will be discussing low-carb / high-protein / Paleolithic / high-fat / Atkins eating programs! This new group provides information and support for those who would like to try this way of eating. Some of us have had WLS, some have not -- and every surgery type seems to be represented.
So -- I'm "doing" Atkins again (it was effective for me in the past). If you are also researching this way of eating, come give the new group a shot!
Feel free to give us a try!

1st please forgive me for my ignorance, as I haven't had the surgery yet. Is this okay to do w/ the band. Again, please don't get upset, I am having surgery on Wednesday and w/ this pre-op diet I am forever certain and am very much considering do a form of Atikins, now that I have all the carb/sugar cravings gone. I just wasn't sure if it would be okay? Funny thing is, the 2 wks I have been doing the low carb high protein liquid, I haven't craved anything, EXCEPT a freakin hamburger--no bun, just w/ mayo/ketchup/mustard and salt!! LMAO!!!! I don't want to get back into eating the carbs or anything....I'm so glad that I saw this and I wasn't the only one that wanted to do this!! I love learning all I can about the band...it is truly making this much easier and besides, only 4 more days!!
I understand not craving anything but a freakin hamburger! I had to have one tonight myself. No bun just that burger with some cheese. Mmmmm
Your question about doing this on the band is a good one. It seems to be just fine and my Doctor tells everyone not to eat more then 30 carbs a day. Eat your protein and you are going to be fine.
Good luck with you surgery and the seat on the looser bench is waiting for you!
