I did really well on my preop diet for a couple of reasons...I wanted my band REALLY bad, I found  friends to support me with my diet and walking. I have no self control, so I knew that if I bought bad food then I would eat it...so I just never had it in the house. I always had healthy snacks made up ahead of time, so when I was having a meltdown that was there (like fat free choc pudding, raw vegies, fresh fruit already cut up, etc). Otherwise I would run for the fastest sugary or salty snack. You can do it!!

If you're struggling with the food, sherlines advice was spot on.  If you're having trouble getting the exercise in, I can relate.

What I did was choose 4-5 friends who were very supportive.  Once a week I meet one of these friends and we either walk, go to the gym, etc.  Since someone is counting on me to join them, I'm less likely to bail on it for the day.  Plus its more fun when you're not doing it alone.

You'll do it.  Don't think 25lbs.  Think about just following all the rules for TODAY.   Soon all the "todays" will add up and you'll see success!!!

And we're all here for you too..

They are right. Keep the bad stuff out. I had no self control. I wanted surgery but my biggest fear was that I couldn't lose weight pre-op. I have always been a yo-yo dieter. The most I had ever lost dieting was 30 lbs. I found a wonderful nutritionist who helped me relearn to eat. She took me through baby steps. I saw her every other week. Thatnks to her help I lost 102 in just six months. And it was fairly easy. Most of the time it didn't feel like a diet. The weight loss was from dieting and swimming. That was the only exercise I could do. But it is a great exercise. Best of luck to you.

I am sooo in the same boat.  I just started month 3 of my 6 month dr. supervised diet required by my ins.  So far, I have GAINED 5 lbs!!!  I am not doing well on my own and I have decided to make an appointment to see a nutritionist even tho my ins will not pay for it.  I need to lose at least 20 lbs to be covered for the surgery.  I will let you know if the nutritionist has any good advice.
