Seriously . I have been unfilled for almost a month and I stll get stuck on foods really bad and now I got stuck on cottage cheese. it is so painful for me to eat. I don;t know what is going on. My doc had me on carafate and protonix and it is not getting any better. I had an endospoy last month and he didnt see anything. if I am not better in a few days he might do a cat scan or another endoscopy. Does any one know what his might be? Has anyone had these issues. I was great for the first 7 months now these past 2 have been awful. Pain and food getting stuck or not going down. any words of wisdom. I am so afraid of losing my band. I have lost 55 lbs and want to lose another 50.

Maybe your band has slipped? Did your doc do an upper GI x-ray study as well as the endoscopy?

If your band has slipped and a complete unfill for a month hasn't fixed it, you might need surgery to reposition it, but you won't necessarily lose it altogether.

Is it your surgeon who did the endoscopy? Maybe you need a 2nd opinion from a gastroenterologist? I don't think anyone here on OH is qualified to diagnose what's going on with you. However, I do want to mention something that you may already know, but it bears repeating over and over and over again if only for the benefit of other members reading this thread. After you have a stuck episode (and by the way, I'm not having any band problems and I just cannot eat cottage cheese for some mysterious reason, yet I can eat steak - go figure), or PB or sliming, it's very important to stop eating and to stay on liquids for 24 hours after the episode, then carefully reintroduce purees & thicker liquids (like yogurt or pudding), then soft food (soft means you can cut it with the side of a fork), then solid food. If you try to go back to eating as soon as the stuck episode has ended, you'll be irritating your already irritated esophagus and stomach, and can end up in an endless cycle of eating problems and discomfort.

Good luck!

Perhaps liquids for a day or two would be a good idea???  I do think you should call the doc in the morning...just to be sure you don't need to be seen.  Hope it all works it's way out...let us know!

I had the simular issue and was really worried about it, even with my unfill had a couple of times with issues, and finally decided that the irritation was due to it still being swollen and such (I had some serious throwing up for a spell and was unable to do much about it for a bit).  I upped my water intake greatly and did softs for a bit...but between you and I....my band hated cottage cheese when was full so I was not surprised when it didn't like it when not full, I haven't had any issues last few days,  I think the softs helped it as well as the increase water, I have been having about 120 ozs water a day.  Hope yours straightens out soon :)  Keep me posted  :)

just keep swimming,
