Poop problems
Hope this isn't TMI for some people! I have never been a very good pooper and ever since my surgery (2-10-11) I have been barely able to go. Last night was the worst, I was up all night because I am so constipated. I finally went this morning and it hurt so bad that I honestly thought I was going to die. Has anyone had this problem and if so what did or do you take to make sure this doesn't happen again, cause I don't think I can go through that again!
Ensure you drink at least 1/2 gallon of water!!! OR more!
If that fails take a full dose of MOM in the morning, by the evening you will be happy.
Ensure you continue to drink 1/2 - 1 gallon of water to prevent constipation.

Don't let it get really bad! It can be serious enough to require a doc's physical intervention and that would be NASTY!!
All the time I was losing I took a sachet of Fybogel and a sachet of Movicol every morning and every night!
You probably don't have the same brands. Fybogel is soluble natural fibre and Movicol is a stool softener. I put them together in a glass of water to dissolve. Nasty but effective.
And drink as much liquid as possible.
Now I am not so worried about calories, i go for prune juice or dried apricots etc.

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
This must be poop week. I've been having the same issues and actually called the hospital this week and spoke to my bariatric dept nurse who informed me of the seriousness of this issue. I'm now on 2 stool softeners in the morning, 2 at night and 2 glycerin suppositories daily. It's been 3 days but I think things are FINALLY starting to move. Oh yeah - drink ALOT. Good luck.

I had that problem and your description sounds like it is already serious. I took Ducolax AM & PM plus stool softener, three prunes, and used gycerin suppositories. I had about a week of difficulty but things settled down. It am almost three months since surgery and still find I must take the laxative everynight, stool softener and prunes. First thing in morning I have a warm chocolate protein drink mixed with hot coffee and that all seems to help, but it is a constant battle for me. Good luck!
Oh man I have been SO constipated this past month SO bad - I feel bloated horrible, etc - I take Miralax every day and it barely does ANYTHING for me (I suffer IBS and have always had movement probs but really bad now) - so, um, I am going to do the stool softeners as you have done (see surgeon Monday and will talk with him too) but wanted to know on the supps, do you do it yourself (I hope that's not too weird of a question) or do you have help? Is it hard to do and it is effective? I feel like I have to go ALL the time, but only a small amount, if I'm lucky comes out and it's a constant feeling...no true, real, general relief - I take a mild laxative (biscopal or something like that) about 1 x a week - .5 mg and I take 3-4 and even THAT has not moved me...
