only lost 10 lbs the first month
Well I had my lap band surgery 4 weeks ago, the first 2 weeks I lost 10 lbs and the last 2 weeks I haven't lost any, I've been following the diet and exercising everyday. I don't feel full after eating my portions and was wondering if things will be different after my 1st fill. I need some encouragement because right now I'm really down in the dumps....
gosh 10 pounds in a month is excellent !!! You are lucky I gained 6 pounds the first six weeks of my post op so you are doing great.
You have to remember the lapband you are only suppose to lose one or two pounds per week.
Im hitting a snag right now I have been losing the same two pounds since the last week of Feb but it will all catch up in the end as long as I still follow the program .
You are not going to drop huge amounts of weight each month with the lapband it wasnt designed to do that .

You are doing great! You're not even supposed to be losing weight yet, you're supposed to be healing from surgery. You will feel much better once you start getting fills and also start experimenting with more filling foods as you get further from surgery.
10 lbs in ANY month is amazing though, ok? You get it? Losing .5-2 lbs a week is normal. You can aim to be above average but it's not realistic to be losing more than 10 a month. And it doesn't happen steadily, it happens in chunks sometimes.

10lbs a month is over 2lbs a week. So more than to be expected! Well done!
And until you get a fill, you are unlikely to feel restricition.

Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I will tell you what I've read from other posts. Your body has been traumatized by the surgery, and the first six weeks is about healing. Don't get upset! Just continue to follow the doc's plans regarding food and exercise, and it'll happen. I'm 3 1/2 weeks out, and the scale is stuck right now. But I know it's because my body needs to hold onto the calories I'm putting in. I guess this is a learning experience and I have noticed that everyone's body is different, and will lose the weight in different ways.
Don't get discouraged! Just take one day at a time. Good Luck!

Look at it this way......When is the last time you lost 10 lbs in a month? If you answer is never, then consider it a success. If you follow docs orders, and journal what you're eating, then it will work. It is phisiologically impossible for it not to. Hang in there, you will see the scale begin to move in no time.
Keep in mind that your body is in shock! It's wondering, "Where is all my food"? Keep doing what you're doing and make sure you get all the protein in so your body has fuel. Once your metabolism adjusts and realizes that you aren't starving it, you'll see the scale start moving again.
BTW, when's the last time you lost 10 lbs in a month? That's awesome!
Keep your eyes on the prize!

You're doing great! We banders only lose about 2lbs a week. It beats gaining 10 lbs in a month, or 2lbs a week. You may want to talk to your doc about the fact you're not feeling full, they may have some more suggestions on protein filled foods which cause full feeling. also, you may want to hit this site chefdave.org for some great recipes that may help you out; he's a bariatric patient as well and now he's designing menus for us! Keep the faith, and don't give up
