food scale
I have a very basic scale that I bought on eBay years before banding that I used to weigh packages when I was selling. I'm pretty sure it was under 20.00
It works just fine for weighing food, but it's not 100% in line with the post offices scales.. LOL.
Mine has a 9volt battery that I have to replace about once a year or so. I think the brand name is Escali or something like that.
If I put a plate on it, and THEN turn it on, it will zero out, so I am only getting the weight of what is on the plate. It will weigh in lbs & ounces or grams. Goes to .00 ounces.
If this one ever breaks, there's one out there that will also give the nutritional value of what you're weighing... Someone said they bought one like that on QVC, the brand name was Taylor. Don't know what they paid.

The ounces on your measuring cup are volume, not weight. :)
It IS confusing.
While not exactly the same, they are close.
I've measured 1/2 cup (4oz) of veggies and then sometimes, just for grins, I'll weigh it too.. and it comes out somewhere between 3 & 5oz in weight.. depending on the density of the veggie.
And the reason I use a scale is that my doctor told us to eat 3 oz of protein and 1/2 cup of veggies per meal. I used a scale (and still do 90% of the time) to teach myself what 3oz really looks like.
I can guestimate pretty closely now, but double check myself frequently to keep myself on the straight & narrow.
