Does anyone have a favorite TV weight loss program. I like to watch "Ruby" and "Too Fat For 15" on cable. I find myself drawn to programs that address weight issues. Is there anyone else who share my interest in these types of shows. Also if you watch "Ruby", I would love to hear your take on her show. I don't know if we're ablt to talk about these shows on the site or not. If not, please let me know. Thanks.

For some reason, Ruby gets on my nerves sometimes but I can take her in small doses.  I like the "TooFat for 15" show and find myself cheering for the kids.  I just hate that the self esteem issues start so young. Kids can be so cruel.

You are so right. I can get annoyed with Ruby too, but only because she seems to have an extensive support system yet still complains. Today she stated that she hated the 13 year old Ruby because she discovered that she was severely depressed on the verge of suicide at that age and she doesn't want to know the source the depression. I'm sorry, but I really think she knows the source, but is milking it for the purpose of ratings. For 4 seasons now she's been trying to discover why she blocked out 13 years of her life. I honestly thinks she knows. I would say it's none of our business, but you kinda forfeit your privacy when you sign on for a reality show.

I also can only take Ruby in small doses (primarily because of her whiny voice) but I still love the show. I have many episodes of "Heavy" recorded and I'm excited for the new show on OWN, "Addicted to Food" that starts in April. I used to watch "National Body Challenge" too but it's only in reruns now but still worth watching. Biggest Loser is motivating but frustraing when they ONLY love 5 pounds in a week while I would LOVE to have lost 5 in a week. I guess when you're working out 6 hrs/day, it would get a little frustrating.

Courage is not always a lion's roar. Sometimes, it is a small voice at the end of the day saying I will try again tomorrow.

People who suffer from being molested at a young age "disassociate" from themselves, they mentally check out and see it happening to someone else, hence Ruby saying what she did. I don't think she's milking it because this is something that takes a huge amount of therapy to work thru to even be able to accept what happened to the victim. Then it takes years more for them to be able to reconnect with that other part of themselves. I would suggest you read about multiple personality disorder, this almost always is a response to sexual molestation. I think in the long run this will help others step forward and address their similar situations. Ruby tends to get on my nerves too but I think it's because basically no matter what her actual age is she is still acting like the 13-15 yr. old girl she was at the time of her molestation. People tend to stop emotional growth at what ever age they are molested, same holds true with drug and alcohol abuse. So I think this will be a great show and hopefully bring light to those others who are victims of sexual molestation. Because I'd bet money that that is what caused her drastic weight gain.

I agree with you "Hislady". When Ruby first discovered she had a mental block and couldn't remember her childhood, I picked up on how she glorified her deceased father. I had a feeling that it might be possible that she was molested by him, because many victims of molestation by a parent sometimes cover up the molester's gruesome character by making them what they would have wanted them to be. Also, in one episode she found out her mother was suicidal, maybe she knew what was going on in her house and had a breakdown. I think if Ruby doesn't know what happened to her, her mother knows. Also I know that many molested children use obesity as a defense mechanism in attempts to make themselves unattractive to their molesters. But again, this is my perception of the scenario.

I used to love watching Big Medicine, and the show about Brookhaven Clinic but I've not seen either of them lately; I can't take Ruby. No offense, but I can't take much of the fabricated drama on "reality" tv; I know, she's got a story, but just like every other "reality" show, I'm disinterested in a short amount of time. If they're constructing wedding cakes, making clothes, doing hair, or cooking, they may have a chance. But having 39 kids, adopting 14 kids, being 1 of 18 wives, being a badly behaved housewife from anywhere, or allegedly looking for a mate will not have my attention for 5 minutes!

I love all those shows!  Ruby drags on too much this season.  damn!!!  exercise so I can relate to the struggle and pain.   eat healthy and discuss how you feel not having the food your friends eats...........just taper off on the excess cutsey bs.
Too fat for 15 I relate to the struggles of weight as a teen and I just cheer them on so they don't have this problems later in life.
I also love Heavy!   Just 2 people at a time!
