Considering the band???

If your PRE-OP and considering the band do yourself a favor and read on the revision forum:

www.obesityhelp.com/forums/revision/4355225/What-are-your-thoughts-on-revision-from-Lap-Band-to-RNY/

Don't you think there is a reason all those bandsters have revised or are wanting to revise FROM the band?!

she dont mention exercise, she dont mention how she eats or anything .

How do we know what she is eating.  She could be eating pizza every day , she could be in carb heaven right now, she could be eating slider foods all the time.   If I would do that I wouldnt lose weight either .

Im not in no way saying she is doing that  so dont twist my words .

But , it is the net we can say whatever we feel like on here and nobody would know the truth right ?

I can come on here and say the same thing, or I like I havent had a fill for three months you people dont know if Im telling the truth you are just assuming Im telling the truth . (which I am lol )

But see where Im getting at .  You take everything you read with a grain of salt because anybody can type what they want sitting behind a computer screen .

Once again Im not saying she is doing above the things she could be following the program 100% correctly but there is another way to look at things also .

Probably 25% of the sleeve board are revisions from band to sleeve.  Why is it that they can follow the same exact rules as banding but lose with a sleeve and not a band?

Do they suddenly follow rules after a major revision surgery?

Honestly I dont know the anwser to that it could be a million different reasons bubbles.

It could be from the band, it could be that they finally took the WLS seriously I just dont know I cant answer that question .

It took me getting the band put in me to finally get it .  I knew all long what I had to do but it took a 20,000 dollar surgery for me to get it .  Mabye that is why I havent had no fills yet because my head is finally is out of my ass and doing what I should have been doing all long .  Eating three balanced meals , portions are smaller and exercise . do them three things the weight is going to come off you .

I dont know all I know is what I felt like when I went through it .

Maybe the figured out the band takes more work then they thought it would take. ?  LIke I said there could be a million different reasons and Im not saying it could not have been the band it could have been the band also we all know there is problems with the band or let me rephrase that it could have problems but that is with any WLS

I know poeple that has gastric  and has gained all their weight back from overeating , and not eating right and they are blaming the gastric for not working right .  It's easy to put the blame on something when you wont own up to your own faults . I have done that a million times eveybody has .

And once again Im not saying she is doing that I feel like I have to say that everytime so my words dont get twisted lol.

The band does not take more work than the sleeve, they are both restrictive in nature.  I could EASILY regain eating Chocolate all day long.

It is the BAND, period.

And btw... $20k for a band, you got screwed.

Maybe you haven't gotten fills yet because just having the band gives you restriction.

I know sleeved people that have gained weight, this is a life style change, not a diet.

We can eat around any surgery type.  Fact remains, sleeves lose more weight and keep it off than bands and that includes revisions from band to sleeve.

"Do they suddenly follow rules after a major revision surgery?"

Not sure about other "theys"...BUT I SURE DID!  Revision surgery was a major wake-up call.  Now I have a true dedication I didn't have the first time around in 2001.  I'm doing my part 150% so I know for sure that if something does (God forbid) change for the worse, it will be because of the actual band failing - mechanical defects, etc., not due to my lack of ability to comply with the protocol.

I know now that I was most definitely NOT fully mentally and emotionally prepared to handle this type of life-long commitment. It took the last 1.5 years of therapy to deal with my fat issues.  THEN, I was ready to face this thing head on!  So far, so good.

Still taking it day by day...and always will.

She? It wasn't just one. There were a lot of bandsters that responded that had bands not working. Do you think they ALL had the same problem with non-compliance???

WE HAVE TO STOP WITH THE BLAME THE VICTIM MENTALITY!!!

Im not blaming the bandster Maria but posting something like this what does it prove ? That the band dont work ?

It dont prove anything .  We do not know her personally do you ? How do we know exactly what is going on in her real life ?

How do we know she is not abusing the band with food and no exercise ?

That is what Im saying if I was failing the band because I was eating the wrong the foods, and wsnt exercising I could come in here and say the same thing see where Im getting at ?

I know the band dont work for everybody ,  I know a few people in real life that has band problems .

People have problems with all the WLS out there it just isnt the band .

And once again Im not saying she didnt eat right , or exercise .
