Good Morning,
I am 3 wks post-op and feeling good physically.  Since I've been on mushies, I have gained 4 lbs.  I'm scared.  I don't want to gain back the weight I have lost so far.  I am finding myself hungry and I feel nothing in my body that tells me I'm full, so I'm sure I'm eating more than I should.  Last night I got up and ate something, just because...

I guess I just needed to share this to get it out.  I'm glad I have the band and I believe in myself working it.  This phase is getting to me, though.

Thanks for listening.

I gained 6 pounds from mushy stage to reg food stage.  It's your body getting use to foods again.  Mine all came back off plus some a couple weeks later so dont worry about that.  You need to be healing instead of worrying about the weight right now.

It will come off I promise!!!  Your body has gone through a MAJOR surgery and it needs time to re-adjust to regular intake of food and water.  Just make sure you are getting ALL of tha****ER..
That has been my most difficult hurdle since having my surgery in July.  As I work 12 hr shifts in an ER Water intake is not exactly something i can prioritize and it can have MAJOR effect on your Wt loss :).
Have a wonderful Saturday!!!

There is nothing to stop you feeling full yet - just be patient, i know that is hard! As far as loss goes, i liek the following explanation....

The following explanation is courtesy of Diana Cox.

Our bodies use glycogen for short term energy storage. Glycogen is not very soluble, but it is stored in our muscles for quick energy -- one pound of glycogen requires 4 lbs of water to keep it soluble, and the average glycogen storage capacity is about 2 lbs. So, when you are not getting in enough food, your body turns first to stored glycogen, which is easy to break down for energy. And when you use up 2 lbs of glycogen, you also lose 8 lbs of water that was used to store it -- voila -- the "easy" 10 lbs that most people lose in the first week of a diet.

As you stay in caloric deficit, however, your body starts to realize that this is not a short term problem. You start mobilizing fat from your adipose tissue and burning fat for energy. But your body also realizes that fat can't be used for short bursts of energy -- like, to outrun a sabertooth tiger. So, it starts converting some of the fat into glycogen, and rebuilding the glycogen stores. And as it puts back the 2 lbs of glycogen into the muscle, 8 lbs of water has to be stored with it to keep it soluble. So, even though you might still be LOSING energy content to your body, your weight will not go down or you might even GAIN for a while as you retain water to dissolve the glycogen that is being reformed and stored.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

You have 3 more weeks of focusing on healing, developing good eating habits and losing the negative self talk that brought you to this point.  You cannot gain 4 lbs of fat in such a short period of time without eating 14000 extra calories.  Your intestines were relatively empty while on liquids and now they have solid material in them...it has weight and will show up on the scale.  Just pay attention to eating good food choices, focus on protein and good carbs and it will come off.  Have a high protein smoothie when you find yourself really hungry and it will help a lot.  Once you are on solids, focus on protein and veggies and choose healthy snacks of about 15 gr carb and 8 gr protein and little or no fat.  I ate every 2-3 hours at this point, but very small amounts and ended up losing about a pound per week in weeks 3-6.  My doctor was very pleased.

Thank you all so much for the feedback.  It was just what I needed.  Guess I was putting the cart before the horse, so to speak.

So glad I'm not traveling this journey alone.
Enjoy your day!
