Before you had your surgery did anyone have low energy even if they took vitamins? I take a multi vitamin and a super b-complex every day. And I had update blood work done a couple months ago and they said nothing was wrong there. But I still have no energy to do hardly anything. And it sucks cause it makes me sometimes feel like a bad mom cause I don't have energy to do things with my daughter.
Thanks

vickie,
I was always taking naps during the afternoon cause I was so tired. I had no energy to do nothing , couldnt get motivated to do nothing and my blood work was excellent.
In fact my doc said I had the most healthiest blood work he has ever seen for me being 348 pounds my blood work was perfect in everything .
When I started to eat right, exercise , and so far have lost 40 pounds I can tell a huge huge difference .
Im not taking naps no more. I go to bed around midnight and Im back up around 8 the next morning .

Any chance it could be depression? I was having a really hard time with depression a few months ago, actually it was for a total of maybe 6 months started mild but was very bad towards the end. It turned out to be a combination of my birth control (Mirena) and a few other factors in my life. My family would talk to me on the phone and tell me they were worried about me and my friends said I did not seem like the same person. I had no energy, no motivation, no desire to do anything. My doctor was going to put me on anti depressants but I was afraid to, my husband was deployed and I needed to take care of my kids. For awhile I just felt so lost and one day I realized that I needed something to change. When I went in to have my Mirena removed my doctor was very concerned with me, she had me promise not to hurt myself and to call if I needed anything. She did not think it was Mirena that was causing the problem but felt like she needed to take it out if I insisted. I have no family here (hubby is military) so I couldn't ask anyone for help. I didn't realize it was as bad as it was. I had my mirena removed and within 2 days I was doing better, within 3 I felt like I it was the first time I had ever seen light or smiled. I had vicious migraines, insomnia, high bp and swelling, a week after it was removed everything was closer to normal again. I saw my doctor a week later and she said I seemed different, she said she noticed the change in me right away and couldn't believe it. Ive seen her several times since and she comments everytime on how healthy I look compared to before. She never believed that Mirena could react that way, I guess it was releasing way too much hormones and causing all kinds of bad symptoms. I have more energy now and motivation to do things that before seemed pointless. I never thought I was depressed until a friend pointed it out and told me to see my doctor, I decided it was worth a shot and Im so glad I did.

Vickie - Any chance you might have Fibromyalgia - a chronic pain and fatigue syndrome? There is a forum on here for that. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with this condition 21 years ago.
Turtle - You sound like you have Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome (thick blood), like I do. I had migraines and a brief round of hormones brought on blood clots in my lungs. Might be worth checking into.
Good luck to you both.

When you say that you had bloodwork and 'they said nothing was wrong' -- what EXACTLY did they test for?
Did they do a Vit D panel, thyroid, Vit K, Potassium, Iron/Ferritin--????
A deficiency in any of these can be a cause of fatigue.
Most doctors do a CBC --- which does not generally include a nutritional panel.
If you don't have copies of your own bloodwork, call and ask them to mail you a copy (or go by and pick one up) --- keep your own medical records.
Vit D 3 has a 'normal range' of 30 - 100, but most docs now want it to be above 80 -- so if yours ws 31 it would be considered 'normal' by the range, but still very, very (too) low.
