Should I consider a partial unfill?

My last fill was at the beginning of February. For 3 weeks afterwards I felt no different and was hungry all the time so I scheduled another fill.

I ended up cancelling that fill though because since then my band has gotten a lot tighter on it's own. I have feelings that I have to burp a lot. I fill up on very little food- Last night for example I had 9 really small bites of a steak and I was stuffed.

But the problem is I've thrown up once a day for the past 3 days now. I'm getting stuck more and I'm not sure if it's b/c I'm eating one bite too many or not chewing well enough.

Should I slow down and chew more thoroughly or just go for a partial unfill? I've lost almost 20 pounds since my last fill and it was done the first week of February.

The reason I'm posting this is because it's now 1 pm and I haven't eaten at all today so I had five small strawberries and they got stuck and I threw up. I don't normally have issues with strawberries.

In your shoes, i would make a very deliberate effort over the next couple of days to ensure I was eating correctly (chewing and not too fast). If it carries on, then i would get an unfill.

9 bites of steak would fill me! But you shouldn't  be throwing up once a day.

Just a few things to think about - things that make people temporarily tighter are:-

dehydration
stress (any stong emotion- nice or nasty!)
TOM
dramatic temp or humidity changes
illness, allergies, colds etc.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Sounds to me like you could use a slight UNfill.  Sometimes, my band tightens up because I have too much stress, or perhaps some kind of bug like I had in January. Coffee became impossible, and although I had never experienced it before, I developed what I can only characterize as acid reflux.  Love to lose the weight, but it's not worth the price of being so uncomfortable that you can't eat or feel like you're going to throw up all the time.
I wish you well- my last unfill was Feb. 23 & I've kept portions small & made wise food choices & am continuing the journey.   Until you get that unfill, remember small portions, small bites, wise choices & keep movin'!

I would opt for a "tiny" unfill due to the vomitting. To me it's one thing to get stuck, it's another to be vomitting on a daily basis.

I had an experience similar to yours and my surgeon recommended a partial unfill.  He was a little reluctant about that though, because he said that most people who are too tight end up gaining weight because they eat slider foods.  I lost weight like you have.  I was also throwing up at least once a day.  I was more concerned about damaging my stomach/band due to the vomitting than I was anything else.  Although, some of it may be food choices.  For example, I absolutely cannot eat steak (even before I was too tight).  But I was getting stuck and throwing up on oatmeal.

I would call the doctor tomorrow and let him/she know what is going on.  I went through what your going through.  I ended up getting an unfill and was slightly dehydrated.  Good Luck in what ever you decide.  I hope you are better soon.

When you vomit, it causes swelling and you are supposed to do fluids for 24 hours and then advance to softs.  If you are not doing fluids, and then vomit again the next day it just causes more swelling.  Go on fluids and then progress slowly and see if you need an unfill.  I am also told to do fluids after a fill for 24 hours and then softs for 24 hours.  If you are able to get in adequate fluids, then I would hold off and see what happens with the fluids and then softs.
