Carb Question
hmm light Italian ? I never did see that one , I will have to look for that one , that would make a excellent breading for pizza !!! Thanks for letting me know about that one .
what is funny I love mushrooms just not fresh ones . I have tried and tried them and somethign about the taste I just dont like. Now my dad fixes them on the grill somehow and I love them I can chow down on them but to put on pizza blah lol !!!
Thanks for telling me about the Italian one I will go look for that one to :o)
oooohh.. I'll have to try that.
I love portobellos cooked on the grill (must remember to get more gas), dh has them like a hamburger.. so do I, minus the bread. ::grin::
I only find the flatout bread at Walmart (of all places) in my town. We get original, light original and light italian. There's only about 10 calories different in the regular and light; so I buy whichever is available, but get the light if there's that option.
I don't count carbs usually, but my DH does, so I am sorta aware of the carb and fiber thing. I go more by the glycemic index for myself (which works almost the same, but I think is easier).
Newest discovery.. Kim's Magic Pops. I can't get them in my small town, but I have connections .. LOL.. sounds like a drug dealer. ha. They are available at some Central Markets, H-E-Bs, Wegmans & Fairways. Mainly in larger stores cuz the store has to buy the machine and they're made right in the store.
Magic pops are about the size of a regular tortilla, but thicker. Made of corn/wheat/rice. Very low carb (about 4 I think), 15 calorie, 0 protein :(. Good for when you want something crisp. Do not make good pizza bases though.. I tried. Work well for dipping hummus. I ate one last night with chicken fajita meat.. pretending it was a giant corn chip. My "willing suspension of disbelief" almost worked.. ROFL.

OMG that's complicated! I admire you people who journal and count (I haven't any idea how to count a carb!).
But isn't it great when we find a "new" food which is good for us!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
I subtract fiber from total carbs, because fiber is not digestible, so it isn't broken down into glucose and absorbed into the blood. But, I ignore "net carbs" on processed foods, because they also subtract other components like sugar alcohols (manitol, sorbitol, etc.), glycerin, and polydextrose. Some "low-carb" products, like Atkins brand, are loaded with those substances, and then they are subtracted from the total carb count to produce a "net carb" figure. Personally, I think the jury is still out on whether or not those ingredients impact insulin levels and weight, so I prefer to avoid them, and count them as carbs if I use them.
