Oh yeah, I definitely plan to follow his/her instructions to the point, but my appointment is at the end of the month so i wanted to get an idea of what I should be removing from my diet now.  I figure the bagel will be really iffy when I get banded, and Im pretty sure I will be affraid to try it for fear of getting stuck.  Im eating the ones I have left and then switching to the omelette after.  Thank you

If they haven't told you yet, and if it's going to be an issue for you (it was for me!) you will probably want to start cutting out soda and any other carbonated beverages. This was the first thing I was told by my surgeon, we were told at the initial info seminar. I used to main-line diet Coke, but I gave it up when they said to.

I know one girl who went to the same info seminar, said she could never give up soda, and it was a deal-breaker for her.

I love soup but always try to make sure it has some redeeming nutritional value like lentils or beans, etc.  Hearty soups keep my full and I love, love, love chicken or turkey chilis.

Bagel, no way!
Coffee, yes, but NF/SF and a LOT less than I used to.
Popcorn, yes, only a couple of handfulls at the movies as a treat, but I have had some issues with it in the past.

Test as you go and follow your surgeon's/nuts protocol for food progression all the way.

You'll be fine!  Keep asking good questions.

My tip - don't worry!!!  Until you get restriction, it is unlikely anything will cause problems and when you do get restriction, you won't know until you try! What is a problem for one person isn't for another. I can eat everything! (But omelette is harder for me than bagels!!).

Soup, drink the liquid and then eat the solid bits. If you have soup for lunch and it is almost all liquid, you will get hungry sooner. So what - it's a trade off!

I have an enormous latte (fully caffeinated) every morning for breakfast and often a second mid morning!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I ditto Kate's post don't worry about it until you have restriction. After being banded I just followed my nut. recommendations and was able to eat anything including breads, pasta etc. After each fill I had to "test the water" and very slowly I found the foods that gave me trouble which are similar to some and way different than others.

You won't know until you have restriction. I love popcorn, shrimp, all seafood even squid, eggs anyway including omlets-yum, soups, salads, nuts, warm fruits, one of my favorites right now is a warm spinach salad with grilled turkey tips, gorganzola cheese, dried cherries and warm bacon dressing (oh damn I want that right now hahaha), I can eat almost anything in smaller portions (which is why I wanted the band)!

Foods that give me trouble most of the time steak (but I can eat prime rib), thick breads, bagels, most pasta (but I can have tastes), and burgers.

**EDITED TO INCLUDE I COULD NOT LIVE WITHOUT MY LARGE DUNKIN DONUTS COFFEE EVERYMORNING OF MY BANDED LIFE AND WILL NEVER GIVE IT UP UNLESS A DOCTOR TELLS ME I WILL DIE-AND ONLY THEN WILL I EVEN CONSIDER MY OPTIONS LMAO

Please don't worry just go with the flow as you get restriction. It's more important that you live and learn with YOUR band. I made it a point in my first year banded to see my nutritionist every 6 weeks to check in and follow-up with my eating plan-this helped me more than anything else. Good luck you're going to do fantastic-your pre-banded commitment is amazing. Karianne
