Time to say goodbye

I am leaving the lap band board.  I have had nothing but problems for the last year.  I did lose about 70lbs in 8 months, but since then, I have had fills, unfills, stuck issues and pbs.  I know that the band works for some, but it is no longer working for me.  I cannot eat the proteins that I am supposed to eat to lose the weight.  I've had an upper GI done, and it looked fine.  But a couple of things have happened to make me believe that my band dr. was irresponsible.  First, he up and left the practice with no notice what-so-ever.  So, I was assigned to a new dr. that, thankfully, I love.  Second, she noted that my band looked a little high, and I had a small pouch.  When she sent me to do the upper GI, the dr. there said that it does look small standing up, but when she had me lie down to do the test, it looked fine.  Well, how often do I eat lying down???  Third, I started a second job only to meet a woman who had a botched RNY performed by my original band surgeon.  So, many things against my band and my dr. that make me wonder if things aren't placed right.
So, I have been approved for a revision to the sleeve.  I will not bash the band; however, I will advise anyone thinking about the band to really research everything.  I know that we do, but I just have to put that out there.  I know that there are tons of people who are successful, and I wish the best for all of you just starting your journey.  This board has been a great wealth of information and support.  And I will check in periodically to give advice as necessary, but I just wanted to say good luck to all, thank you to those of you who have been a support over the last 18 months, and good bye for now.
Luv you all,
Jenn

I wish you very much success and a much easier time with your sleeve!!!  I know that my original surgeon has botched MANY MANY surgeries, including mine, which required another surgery to fix. So, I do know how a bad placement can cause many problems.   My new surgeon is wonderful.  I hope yours is, as well!

I am so sorry for what you have been thru, but I would hope you would not leave us completely.  I want to read about the good & bad with lapband.  Who knows, the information you could provide could save someone from having a similar situation happen to them or keep us aware of what could happen or what possible symptoms we may be experiencing could mean.  I do wish you much success with your WLS journey though and hope you will still come back and offer us advice and opinions

Jenn -

Best of luck with your revision.

I am sorry to hear that your band may have been placed too high --- I hear of that more often than I like.

They used to say that 'anyone' could put in a lapband -- but clearly, there is a skill to getting the proper placement -- and big ramifications when it is done poorly.  I am so sorry that this happened to you.

Please continue to keep us posted on your progress -- I wish you quick healing and great success with your sleeve.
Kath
