Hey guys.....
Well I am a gastric band girl!!
I had my band May 4th 2010,
My start weight was 350.2
Today I am 239.2 lbs!!

Total loss 111 lbs!!!!! I am so happy with my band and I am loving the results!!! I feel like a completely new person!!!!!! Only thing is I am unbelievably "broody" for a baby right now!!! Like I want a baby so badly, hubby really would love a baby right now too..... But then I keep thinking about my band and how I don't want to ruin this chance I have to finally be a healthy weight!!!!

I dont know what to do....should I go on a mad crazy starvation style diet to loose the weight quickly then start trying for a baby....

Should I continue on being happy and healthy with the lap band...loosing the weight slowly ..yes feel in happy that I'm loosing weight comfortably but sad that I'm having to wait longer to ttc

Or just get preggers now.....

Do any of you feel like this.....

Much love and positive vibes to everyone!!!
Xxoo

Congratulations ! What a awesome job 111 lbs in 10 months that is an inspiration for us all. Hope you don't mind some input from a guys perspective? You lost 111 already and it hasn't been a year. What would another 6 months bring you to? I'm willing to bet pretty close to your goal or at least well under 200, I bet you would feel much better with yourself and to gain back 30 or so pounds getting pregnant would still keep you under that 200 mark and you could eat more easily for you and the baby. I can't speak for all guys BUT a Pregnant woman is the sexiest thing on earth! I wish you all the best and Pray that whatever you decide you will have a wonderful, safe and healthy pregnancy.

Hey John B, thank you so much for the response and for the kind words of encouragement!! That means so much to me, and I hope you'll be pleased to know you have made my day! So thank you!!!!

I think that makes sense, I need to have a goal in place and know that then we can start trying for a baby... But in the meantime lots of practicing!!! Lol.....a good calorie burner too hehe!!!

If I can maintain 2.5 lbs a week for the next 6 months Id be in a much better position emotionally, ( what with gaining some weight back through pregnancy) and physically!!

Thanks for listening.....I'm in the uk, and WLS is not nearly as popular over here, that combined with only a handful of close friends and family knowing about my band....sometimes I just wish i had people I could talk to who understand this journey we go on!!!!

I know what I need to do....I need to continue with my focus on weight loss with the help of the band....this tour isn't over yet!!! Lol

As someone who was overweight and pregnant, trust me when I tell you that you'd do well to hold out for as long as you can and continue losing the weight.  Not only will a healthier weight help reduce your risk of pre-eclampsia (high BP), gestational diabetes, etc, but you'll avoid being physically miserable during the last few months of pregnancy.  You're uncomfortable enough as it is, but having the extra weight on top of it makes it worse.

I'm doing the lapband now mainly because I'm not getting any younger and I'd like to have a 2nd child, but I'm not going through what I went through with my 1st pregnancy again.  I want to be at a healthy weight for the next time I'm pregnant.

Good luck!

I have not posted on this board in ages because I got to my goal and have had 3 subsequent pregnancies.  During the first pregnancy, I lost the twins and hung on to 20lbs.  I got pregnant again and gained another 20 with my son.  I wanted to try one more time because I wanted two children and be done.  I could not get motivated to loose any of those 40 lbs because I knew I was going to be putting on the 20 for my 2nd son.  When I am done being pregnant, I am guessing I am going to have 50-60 to lose again and I am OK with that.  All that was important to me was having my sons.

I can't give you any good advice on whether or not to keep going or whether to do it now.  My gut says do it now unless you are still unhealthy and it would cause problems that wouldn't be there if you lose some more.

Good luck!
