Hello.... new here
I gave up soda and smoking at the same time talk about being a you know what lol. I was not the best person to be around for about 4 weeks lol.
Piece of advice do not wait till the last minute before surgery to give it up. You will have so much else going on and you dont want to deal with them caffeine headaches at the same time.
I would really try to quit drinking them about a month before your surgery and that way they are out of your system and its not a habit to drink them anymore.
You should quit drinking them now, but Im not going to preach about it because I didnt either LOL. That is one thing I just didnt want to give up till I had to .
I was such a big Pepsi drinker and there are times I would love a ice cold Pepsi and maybe because my band is empty I wouldn't have no problems but I'm just to scared to find out and I know myself to well if I take one drink of it and know I dont have problems with it then I will be back to taking more drinks so its just not worth the trouble lol.

My tip - read all posts, positive and negative - you need to know all about the band, not just one aspect. But then use your judgement as to what to really take on board. The band is not an easy option and as an implanted device, things can go wrong (as they can with any wls) but if you work it a it is intended - it is a great tool.

I'm new too, 35 yrs old, scheduled for 3/29. I just wanted to chime in on the soda discussion as I used to be a Diet Pepsi addict... I drank it like athletes drink water. A while back a friend of mine recommended trying Propel, particularly the grape flavored one and I'm so glad she did... it's completely replaced Diet Pepsi for me. Now that they've come out with a zero calorie version, all the better.
My husband says he doesn't like the fake sugar aftertaste, but this is also a guy who drinks regular Coke like I used to drink Diet Pepsi, so I think his tastebuds are a bit warped. It's like anything though, once you get used to it, you don't notice it at all. So, that might be an option if you've been averse to plain water like I usually am (unless I'm working out).
