Hi Babs!

Long time...  I have a question.   Did you have insurance that covered your revision eventhough you were no longer morbidly obese?

Just curious...

Hi Lisa,

Yes, they did. By the time I had my revision, my BMI was 39 again anyway so a few more pounds and I would have qualified for a new surgery!! But I had it done in one step.

RNY with
I don't know if I qualify because I haven't had follow up surgery (yet) but I am currently completely unfilled pending an endoscopy and believe I likely have an ulcer on my band line if not an issue with the band and I would say for sure YES! I love my band and cant wait to get it working again but if I have to go back to surgery for a slip or problem I would be ok with it as part of the "cost" per say.

I can sheepishly say that it may not be the best option for self-pays with the followup maintenence and potential for problems down the line.

I did have a leak which was repaired so that counts as follow-up surgery.

Not only would I do it again but if anything happens to this band, I will have another inserted unless it is medically impossible.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Nope.  I picked the lap band out of fear.  I was too scared to try something more "severe".  Truth is, surgery is surgery and I should have looked at the severity of my obesity and decided based on that.  I needed a more severe WLS.  The band didn't cut it.
