I am sorry to hear about your pain...if I was going through what you are through, I too would hate my band. But please dont think that gastic bypass is your only options if/when you have it removed...you have the sleeve and the sleeve. please research both to see which one is a better fit...not say the bypass is not, just asking you to research...and kick your doctor in his behind for me while you are at it..that is horrible.
She SHOULD kick her doctor's butt! My friend (EastCoastGal) went to him and not only did he band her with like a 70BMI (should be medical malpractice to do that) when she couldn't sleep laying flat because of the band and was sleeping in a chair he suggested banding her again.
He's one of those... the band can never fail ...doctors.
Bleh...

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

I was like you...unable to eat for days, then suddenly able to eat anything--so I took the opportunity while I could, which made weight loss SLOW!. Then one day my stomach closed up and wouldn't open. They took all the fluid out...still wouldn't open. I was dehydrated so my doctor put me in the hospital and told me it would unswell. Well, after 5 days they did an endoscopy and discovered I had an ulcer inside my stomach at the band site. By day 9 they had no choice but to remove my lapband. During that whole time I was on a glucose IV and couldn't eat or drink anything (and still didn't lose a pound!)
Since the band was removed I've been seeing a non-surgical weight loss doctor and have had some success on the HCG diet (about 20 lbs.) which I'm very proud of. The minute they took off the band I was freaked out because I'd heard you will gain all your weight back. I'm determined not to do that because it was a very expensive 60 lbs.!
Good luck to you from someone who's been there...

I can completely understand what you are saying. I really dislike my band. Some days you can eat almost anything....and other days you throw up everything. I have fluid put in and taken out. The area where the port is hurts when I bend over. It's just a mess. I have lost 30 pounds with the band over 2 years. I hate it everyday. Fills and unfills are sooo expensive. Need some put in....$350. Need some taken out....that'll be another $350. It's just not worth it. Worst decision I ever made.

Sorry to hear you having such a hard time with your band, banded life should be like that! It sounds like you are just too tight or you have already slipped your band. All the puking NOT GOOD, puking is and must be avoided at all costs with the band.
Also when you see your new surgeon you may want to ask for a small unfill or have them check the position of your band, it seems like you were not filled properly and that can be a disaster and make life a living hell with the band, I've had bad fills too and changed surgeons and now I have perfect restriction. I would not be so quick to change to gastric bypass, puking will be the less of your worries with the bypass, if it were me I would give the band one more try since you are so young, I would hesitate to get my insides rearranged so young, and since you are so young you can exercise and lose most of your weight with the band.
If your band has not already slipped with all the vomiting, I would start over and start slowly with fills until you reach a good level.
Also you must remember ALL WEIGHT LOSS SURGERIES ARE TOOLS, they work differently, MAN Y people do not lose all their weight with the bypass either unless they exercise and eat right, DUMPING keeps some people on track with violet vomiting, fainting sweating and shaking, I would rather have a PB than that, think about what you are doing. Good luck
