Surgery under general anesthesia or conscious sedation?

For any of you that have had a flipped port, did you have it fixed under general anesthesia or conscious sedation???

 I had my port replaced for a low-profile one a couple of years after my surgery. I believe the anesthetist said it would be more like twilight sedation, I was out like I had been hit in the head with a sock full of quarters.

I had general anesthesia.....I asked why they didn't use conscious sedation and they said that they wanted everything totally relaxed since they are working with the muscle wall.

It can be done either way.
