I am needing to add more fiber into my diet and I would like do it through food and not some drink mixes if I dont have to .

Im still learning about carbs and such things but here is the nutritional info for these fiber bars.

120 calories
4 grams of fat
10 grams of fiber
19 carbs
2 grams of protein

These are really good to I just had the caramel coconut fudge one yummy .

My question is the 19 carbs is that good carbs or bad carbs ?     Eating one of these bars gives me 35% of my daily fiber and the cereal they just came out with its awesome to .

I thought with it being cereal and drinking milk with it would not keep me full but with all the fiber that is in the cereal I can eat one cup of it and it keeps me full for a good 4 hrs .

So anyhoo back to my fiber bars  is that good or bad carbs ?  19 carbs Im not fretting to much about , but just curious .

I really like how much fiber is in one of these bars and the cereal you can eat one cup of it also and get 10 grams of fiber

Try them and see how they make you feel.

For me, this type of food triggers my 'want' for candybars.   Also, some of them contain sugar alchohols which give me severe gas.  So I stay away from them.

thanks Kath,

I was never a candy bar eater just that time of the month so they dont trigger candy bars for me so that is good if they did that I would have to stay away from them also .

I do know I cant keep them around the house around that time of the month or I would sit down and eat the box of them just because they are a little sweet .

So far so good , I ate it two hrs ago and still not hungry yet .

Do you know if the 19 carbs would be good carbs or bad carbs ? Im probably thinking they are the bad carb type of food :o(

For me I cannot bring them in the house any more.  They call my name from the cupboard.  They are just too yummy.

If you can pace your self and have one a day I say go for it.

I would rather get my fiber intake from natural foods - these bland foods never call my name.

Wonder why

I would say depending on how much sugar is in them will tell you how healthy the carbs are in it.  Sometimes it's hard to decipher real healthy food from "fake" healthy food.  19 carbs is a little on the high side but if you don't indulge in carbs all day and it's low in sugar I would say you are fine.

I can eat  one a day and that is fine,  it isnt one of my foods on my list that call my name and I want to eat them all the time so Im lucky there  .  A box of these which has five of them can last me about 2 weeks if not longer .

They have 7 grams of sugar in them and its a  36  gram bar (1.2 oz)

Recently, I started to eat the Special K Protein Meal bars as a snack.  The chocolatey chip one is really good and fills me up.  It has 170 calories, 4.5 grams of fat, 5 g of fiber, 26 carbs and 10 g of protein.  I was really disappointed to learn that it has high fructose corn syrup in it though.  I think this is true for all Special K products.  Such a bummer.  I am moving on and will try to find another good alternative.

Well net carb wise you're only at 9 carbs (you subtract fiber 19-10 = 9) From the ingredients it seems that they're okay for being cereal bars. I try to avoid them just because of the high sugar/sodium content. I'd say they're better than most cereal bars, and if they fit into your daily needs, I don't see a problem.

Can I ask why you subtract the those two numbers ? I have never seen that done before.

What is the difference between the net carbs of 9 and the reg 19 ?

Do you subtract all your carbs like that when fiber is involved ?

Gosh I didnt know that so Im eating less carbs then I actually am ?

I learn something new everybody on here lol

When I took a diabetes class, we were told that you subtract the fiber from the total carbs for  a "net" carb count. We  ( the class) are only allowed to do this on foods that have a fiber count of 5 or higher. HTH
