fill where needle pops out as soon as you sit up?
I went for a fill about two weeks ago, the np had trouble finding and filling and at one point got blood in the saline and had to withdraw all of the fill. The funny thing that never has happened is everytime I sat up to drink, the needle would pop out. Got the fill but while drinking tea started sliming so went back for unfill. Needless to say I am in need of another fill. I went for upper GI, but still haven't heard the results of that. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what was done.
For some reason they always had trouble finding and filling my band. I remember they even put pillows behind my back to try and have port easier to access lol. As I lost weight (and most of my weight was in my belly-perfect apple shape- the port and fills went much easier. What were they looking for with upper GI, swelling? Goodluck!
Never had that issue - I generally put my hand under head and start a "sit up" - that causes the muscle to push the port to the surface. I have the low profile port now but it still sticks out like a tumor.

This going on my third year with the band and although I haven't had a lot of fills, this is a new thing. She thought that maybe my port had flipped the reason for the upper GI. I need a fill yesterday, as I feel like I have little to no restriction and doing it on my own hasn't been to bad, I have the urge to try the things I haven't been able to eat since surgery.
oh you know what - i have a few friends whose docs always perform a fill under "fluroscope". Maybe you can try that next time.

My fills are done under flouroscope, thankfully. I had my second fill last Tuesday and the PA had trouble accessing the port due to some scar tissue that has formed over the membrane. It took her about 5 tries to get it done. I lay on my side with a wedge behind me and the needle is withdrawn before I drink the water...no problems so far.
