I know....!!!

I know.....

that with the band I have to take responsibility for my own eating

so loss was no faster than with Weigh****chers

and I can eat round my surgery

that any implant can cause problems

that the lifetime of the band may not be the same as my lifetime

that all wls can cause health problems

But....

this surgery was right for ME! I did all my research, I weighed all the options available to me and chose the band.

I am not a moron, I am not intellectually challenged. I am aware of the risks and benefits of the different options.

The band is not suitable for everyone, many need the malabsorption of other wls. I didn't need it and didn't want it!

If I were to have issues and lose my band tomorrow, i would not regret the last (almost) 5 years! Would I regain? Probably - so I hope I don't lose my band! But I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Absolutely!

I also know that in the past whenever I lost weight, I regained alarmingly fast, and that the band has helped me to maintain a stable weight for the first time in my life.

I am with you Kate...I love my band and hope it is with me the rest of my life.  My god-daughter is having her 7th surgery and 13th hospitalization since her unnamed non-band WLS two and a half years ago and is struggling to keep her BMI above 16!  I know several folks personally who have had the band and have had zero complications and lost weight successfully per their own expectations.
