Lapband - Jan 2009 weight goal reached with lapband. Revised to VSG- 1/25/16
Hi John,
Sorry I didn't answer right away, I was out all day yesterday (something I couldn't have done before the band). So far I've lost 81 pounds with the band. I still have from 80 to 110 pounds to go. My finally goal keeps changing, so it's really a goal range. Since I've never been at those weights before, except for about 3 minutes on the way up the scale, I don't know how they feel and what weight will be right for me. That's something that I will evaluate when I get into that range.
I'm very happy with the band and with the weight loss I've had so far. Could I have lost a little more in the same time, probably. Could I have lost this much without the band, absolutely not! I've followed the band rules and in addition I've gotten into clean eating. I'm very happy with the loss I've had so far especially considering that during the last nine months I traveled a lot. I've been on four cruises - one of them for 29 days - and I still lost on cruises!
I had some ups and downs along the way, but I think that's normal. During the ups and downs I learned what works for me. My husband had lapbad surgery two weeks before I did. He's lost 82 pounds so far. He does things totally differently than I do. He does what works for him. Neither of us is wrong, neither is right.
The most important thing is to do what works for you and be happy with what works for you. In the beginning I wasn't happy because I thought I should be losing faster. But, it was working, I wasn't killing myself to stick to the program and the loss was consistent. I learned that the consistant, doable weight loss was much better than something that might give me a huge loss for a couple of weeks but was impossible to stick to and not consistant. I also had to learn to get the word should out of my vacabulary.
Sorry I'm rambling. If I can help or answer any more questions please let me know. Feel free to message me.
Wendy
