How long do you have to wait between fills?

 I just had a fill on March 1st, it did not give me any kind of restriction (like none, I can still eat pretty much anything). In the past, before my practice switched hands, I was able to get in for a fill every two weeks until I met the proper restriction. The new doctors insist you wait a month, and they even lied to me today and told me that my insurance would not cover more then one a month (which I promptly called the insruance company about, and they confrimed my suspicion that this was incorrect information). 

When I called the office back and told them that it wasn't true that I had to wait, she made a big dramatic deal about squeezing me in on the 22nd of March (moved up from April 1st, whoopdee doo) and warned me that I might have to wait a LONG time in the office b/c I was being squeezed in. 

This office used to have a NP who did all the fills, I could pretty much call and get in within two or three days when I needed an adjustment, now it's like pulling teeth to get in the office. I find this to be horrible since having a proper level of fill is so important to a lap band patient, to both lose and maintian. I have gained 10 lbs while waiting to get in for the March 1st fill, and I am trying despratly to get my restriction back so that I can lose and get back on track and the whole thing is very disheartining. I can't imagin what it must be like for a newbie if this is the way they are handled. 

Anyway, I just needed to get that out. I am beyond frustrated with the new doctors in this office, from the whole "slipped band" debacale to having to wait. It's unacceptable to me.

It seems to be very much the doc's personal preference. Mine will give me a fill a week after a previous one if I think I need it. But I have read of lots of people being told a month.

 In this case it seems to be that the doctors have more patients then they can handle, whenever you go in to the office you wait over an hour (I have been in the waiting room for more then three hours at least twice), and they practice at more then one hospital/office. They do not have a PA or NP who can be in office all the time, so you have to wait for a doctor for fills and between surgery and seeing new patients it seems that the fill patients get pushed to the side. 

I have reached out to other doctors in the area, I hope that one of them will take me on as a patient. I am just frustrated between the "slip" scare, and having to wait so long. I was able to keep off more then 75% of the weight I lost, even while pregnant but I am rapidly putting it back on now that I am so loose. 

AND I feel like the fact that I have no restriction now is the doctors fault, because he was mistaken about my band being slipped and took out most of my fluid. I feel like b/c of this they should accomedate me and see me to fix what he broke. 

Sorry, just having a bit of a pitty party, it's been a rough couple of weeks over here.

I would be grateful if the doc took my fluid out because he thought I had slipped.  Better safe then sorry and then you lose your band all togeher because he didnt take precautions .  If you had slipped and he didnt do nothing about it you be would upset because it slipped and he did nothing . 

I guess I just look at things differently with this whole band thing .  

 He was looking at me under fluro and said I had a slip, then he read a CAT scan I had and said I had a slip, and took out most of my fluid. Two doctors and two radiologist said he was crazy, and that there was no sign of a slip AT ALL in either my CAT scan (before he removed my fluid) or swallow study (after he removed my fluid). I had NO symptoms of a slip, and no issues at all with my band other then lack of restriction from some of my fluid being removed while I was nursing and pregnant. I didn't need precautions to be taken because I had NO SYMPTOMS or indications that there could be an issue with my band. I do have esopogeal spams and it also is extremly slow to react to food in my pouch, which is what he was seeing in the Fluro, what happens is my pouch fills up, holds on to stuff and then all of a sudden it completely empties (unless I have proper restriction, then the dye trickels though slowly), although he was aware of this he didn't take it into account and proclaimed me broken and in need of a full unfill and possibly surgery.

So no, I am not going to just give him a pass on this one and say "he did the best he could", he misread TWO differnet forms of testing and put me though weeks of needless worry and stress. 

mine will not give fills till four weeks after . It takes time for the swelling to go down and to see if you have your restriction .

Mine is very conservative with fills he just dont give fills when you ask for them and he does them in low amounts nothing above 2 cc's at a time

My doctor was worse I had to wait 6 weeks for my next fill.  That's why it took me so long to get the restriction I needed.  I feel your frustration...I felt the same way waiting around for six weeks.  Just remember you will eventually get to your optimum fill.
