Discomfort
I hate to repeat myself and I posted something kinda similar to this the other day....I justed added more info....so here goes: I was banded last Wednesday and I feel good except for a couple of things. My incisions are good. There is no pain there. I was fortunate and did not have any gas pain. (my gas was released in the normal manner LOL), The issue I am having is the discomfort and swelling on the left side of my belly. It's sore almost like I need sit ups but the discomfort seems to be deeper. I called the dr's office yesterday and she said that since most of the work is done on that side of the belly then the swelling and soreness is normal. I also had a hernia repaired at the same time. Has anyone else experienced this? If so how long did it last and what did you do to get some relief?
All kinds of things will affect how soon you feel better. First of all, you have to remember that you had a bunch of hole*****h through skin and muscle, and bunch of tools inserted and moved around, then taken out, and the holes sewn up. That alone is enough to make you feel like crap for a good week, if not more.
But yes, if you had a hernia (abdominal or hiatal?) repaired at the same time, you had internal stitches for that as well.
If the pain is, to YOU, UNUSUALLY or intolerably bad, or you start spiking a fever, you should call your doctor.

Hi, my surgery (lap band) was done on 2/7/11, and I still have some pain, but my port is on the right side of my abdomen, I feel it when I bend over like to pick up my shoes, etc. The NP said that is my port. Call you doc if you have concerns, especially as you may have had adhesions (scar tissue) around the old surgical site, and maybe the pain is from all the surgery around that area. You should make someone aware so it does go in your chart. Just a phone call, don't feel like a pest, you paid a lot of money to be taken care of before and after. shrinkingdaisy
Yeah, I'm having the same, having been banded 13 days ago, and some bruising too. Last night it was really sore in bed and today is very sensitive. Apparently, all part of the process but scary, eh? I thought I'd done something to injure myself or slip my band or something dangerous. Again, apparently not. A real learning process for sure. Good luck!
