Well went in to see my surgeon for fill under fluoro and port is almost completely flipped . After about 20 minutes he was able to access port and give me a fill. He tried to reposition port, but unfortunately he wasn't able to so will be scheduled for a port revision in the next couple of weeks.

Hi Norma,

It will be okay I had my port flip on me 2x in my first 6 months I had my band and had to have day surgery twice to get it to stay in place (on the flip side I also got my first 2 fills during the surgery so I didn't feel a thing hehehe).  My doctor and I laughed because I was his first and second port flip he every had.  He used thick stitches the second time and here I am 7yrs later and I haven't had a problem since then.  This is a tiny bump in the road and at least you got your fill.  Hang in there it will be just fine and your not alone Karianne

Hmmm, I'm not sure why my port flipped but I supposed anything just stitched in place could come loose.  After the second time he said he used thick stitches and would probably use that for his patients in the future.  I had the band very early on and was only my surgeons 22 band patient so I'm sure back then there was some trial and error but in the end it has worked out.  Kari

My port flipped. My surgeon said it could be the result of poor surgical technique (by my original surgeon), or stress on the sutures from abdominal exercises, or dumb luck.

My band slipped, we think because of my untreated hiatal hernia (hiatal hernias are associated with band slips, which is why most bariatric surgeons repair hernias during band placement). Other causes of band slippage are excessive vomiting or coughing, or consistent overeating.

Mine is flipped but I think because of my fault about 3 weeks out I was trying to do too much too early.  Somehow my surgeon is about the only one in his office that can manipulate my port and do a fill without fluoro. Good luck on your port revision!
