Is this normal?

Okay, I've experienced 2 new things today; first, I felt like maybe I was hungry, but that really didn't last...think maybe that was gas doing something a lil crazy. But this is what's really getting me; I'm smelling food that my roommate is cooking, and I'm nauseous smelling it. Is that to be expected? She's cooking food I would normally eat (getting ready for the Sunday Soul Food dinner, so it's not that the food isn't great), but I'm sick to my stomach smelling it!

I sometimes get gas (usually when I'm about to go to sleep) that travels up until just under my lower sternum. It hurts and makes me feel really hungry, but it goes away in a few minutes.

You are normal. Did you have your surgery recently. There are foods that I used to love and now I can't even stand to put them in my mouth. The texture of some just makes my stomach turn. My taste has really changed.

I'm only 9 days post-op; the smell of food makes me so sick I'm finding in the last 2 days

Hi, I am 2 full weeks ( almost) post op lap band, and food smells do stimulate the digestive system to "kick on"... I have pancreatitis ( chronic) and when I am really bad, the smells actually will cause me pain, because the digestive system "begins" and bile becomes produced to digest what's coming.  This gives me nausea.  I actuall have nausea medication, but that's pretty specific to my own illness, not to lap band.... you're not crazy!  shrinkingdaisy ( [email protected])

Thanks for sharing that; I'm praying you get well fully, and can enjoy your lap band. I'm not going to worry with all the responses I got on this; seems like it may be a normal occurrence

Gas will do really funny things from now on. AS far as smelling things that are making you sick I was smelling thing all thrugh the house like i had super man's nose or something.  That however will go away in time so just hang on.
