CALORIES

I have always just weighed my 3 oz of protein on a scale.  That way I know how much protein I'm getting.  Everyone needs to do what their surgeon suggests, but this has worked great for me.  Also the food is not just sitting in the pouch and then it all goes out at once, it's a slow downward process, creating the sensation of satiety.

I average about 1200 calories a day. When I was eating less and sticking closer to 800 calories, I stopped losing. I think it was just too little and my body wanted to hang on to what it could.

So I shoot for 1000-1200 calories. Some days I go a little over 1200 if I have a treat... but I reel it in the next day and toss in a 900 calorie day.

I measure & log my food every day and my daily average for this month:

Food: 1179kcal
Fat: 49.06g
Protein: 85.80g
Carbs: 103.18g (mostly from fruit)

Hi all. Been away for awhile.  Not losing or gaining.  Came back to start journaling again and see if I can get over this hump.  I was reading this thread and had a thought to share.  One person is talking about 1 and 3/4-oz of protein is what they were told to eat.  I was told something similar, but phrasing is important.  I was told one serving is 3 to 4 ounces of protein for approximately 21 gms.  The poster may want to go back and check the printed material again.  It may be exactly as stated and 1-3/4 ounces of protein is the correct amount or it may be 1 serving of 3/4 (3-4) ounces of protein.  I have weighed chicken and other meats repeatedly and checked them against a measuring cup.  In most cases 1/2 cup equaled between 3-4 ounces depending on the density and moisture of the meats.  It's also close on yogurt.

My doc's office discourages all that measuring and journaling, and prefers that we eye-ball it to fit on their little plate.  I'm sorry, I'm just too analytical for that.  My brain isn't satisfied and my eyeballs must be greedy.  I have been doing that, however, lately, and my weight loss has plateaued for a couple of months now.  I dusted off my scale this morning and came back here to start journaling again.  Wish me luck!  If I follow the rules and my plan for a week and no loss, I'm going back for a fill...  But really, I don't feel like I need one.  I probably just need to move more and make better choices and be accountable.
