Abdominal pain, what do you guys think?
I'll be calling my surgeon tomorrow, but wanted to hear from you guys.
I have right sided upper abdominal pain that I can resolve if I press on the area. It feels like a stitch you get if you run. I don't feel any lumps or anything.
It isn't always there, and sometimes I can't find a comfortable position unless I hold my hand putting pressure on the area.
It's mostly when I'm upright and walking.
Been going on, off and on, for at least a couple of months now.
Any ideas?

When I had issues with my gallbladder, pressing in the area made no difference in pain... and it was not a constant pain like that. It was intermittent and VERY severe and I had nausea & sweats as well during an "attack".
I would definitely speak with your surgeon.
Maybe it is a hernia? My husband had similar symptoms when he had a hernia.

My first guess is a hernia since you didn't mention any other GB symptoms. Please let us know what you find out. Curious!
I should have added that a couple of months ago I had a RUQ ultrasound and my gallbladder was "perfect". (I expected a GB full of stones since just about everyone in my family has had theirs removed due to stones, but he said it was in great shape).
There is no nausea, no sweats, nothing like that associated with this pain. It almost feels musculoskeletal in nature, except for the fact that it's not.
Try to imagine if you were walking and it felt like the organs on that side were bouncing around and that was the kind of pain you had... and that's what this is. lol. weird huh?
Waiting to hear back from surgeon.. thanks for the input all. I am thinking it's a hernia or adhesions. El yay!!

Does sound like a hernia. Is it located near any incision - old or new? I had a problem with an incisional hernia (from gall bladders surgery performed more than 20 years before). It hurt, but pressing in or holding my hand flat against it relieved the pain. And mine bothered me more when I was upright and walking too. In fact, I noticed in more in the mornings, but it could bother me at any time. Good luck with the doctor!
